Is the idea to recover the tech before someone else does and reverse-engineers it?
@rongray8934
Күн бұрын
If they recover the engines they may be able to reuse them as well. After a thorough inspection to look for flaws and to see what happened at the end of the flight. I'm sure keeping proprietary tech under wraps as well.

Hilarious, ...how India completes entire space missions for the cost of US bureaucratic paperwork🤔$😂 They may be slow, but you can't argue with success, particularly when it has taken 50 years for Artemis to follow Apollo, and the Artemis schedule keeps getting delayed by incessant failures of SLS/Boeing/NASA 💰 💰 🤑 China has moved up its Lunar/Mars programs by 2 years, so further delaying SpaceX/Starship testing is probably going to need some "executive interference" by the White House(...?) It's all well-and-good that Congress provided NASA funds to have a 'backup/alternative' to SpaceX, but if Artemis falls back behind the Chinese, there will be consequences all over the political landscape👉🇺🇲👈

The claim that at there was an 'energetic failure' at landing is misleading. It is very possible they used the FTS to 'unzip' the booster after soft touchdown so it would sink. We've seen a lot of starship stages with engine fires, and nothing has caused the kind of damage you suggest. Remember, that SpaceX was so encouraged by the result here that they're bringing the next one back to land on the tower arms. What could go wrong?
