Hi Bob, thanks so much for this in depth review! Your words is what convinced me to buy this Axiom. I’ve done 30 dives with a basic rental bcd over the past year, and I thought it was finally time to buy one of my own. I’m coming for advice again, because I don’t know who to ask for help anymore. I emailed Aqualung EU and US but no reply, and the local Aqualung shop says there’s nothing wrong. But my Axiom is impossible to dive with! I need 10kgs (!) to descent (1.80m, 78kgs, 5mm suit, M/L Axiom, aluminium tank). During the safety stop my buddies need to hold me down or I will shoot to the surface. My trim is completely off, I’m exhausted from keeping my legs down. I don’t know what I do wrong, or if the bcd is defect. I don’t mean to criticise your video and it is probably a fantastic bcd but I am at my wits’ end, my last 5 dives with this bcd were incredibly uncomfortable and stressful.

I'd probably need to know more about you (I see the 1.8 and 78 but what is your body composition ? When you completely deflate the BC to descend, how's your descent ? Slow, swim down ?? When I see somebody fighting to stay down at safety stop that to means not enough weight/lead to begin with. Remember it's about buoyancy at the end of the dive not the beginning.. Thanks for the note but I highly doubt it's the BCD.

Hi Bob @DiversSupplyYT, I appreciate your quick reply! Didn’t want to answer until I had a chance to dive again. We took time to focus on my bcd and the weights instead of diving from A to B. Testing buoyancy at the end of the dive is how I got to 10kgs (other BCDs would be 8kgs for me in, with very salty seawater). We did an offshore dive and shifted the weights around until we found what works for me, then another dive to work on my trim back. I feel a bit overweighted but there is no safety issue anymore. Perhaps the padding that makes the Axiom comfortable also makes me carry extra weight. I like the Axiom for its options and great look but I expect it will take me some time to get used to it.

I do wish that Octo pockets were mandatory on all BCs and the mounting grommets are super handy.

Hi, thanks for the video... When you say it's a small pocket, does it mean I wouldn't be able to fit a mask or a frameless mask? Also, did the pocket size changed as I thought the original Axiom had bigger pockets, thanks again!

Yes you can get a standard mask in the pocket. The Axiom pockets are smaller than say the PRO HD pockets that are huge. Bob C
