Woaaaa!! That’s so cool!! Since I’m from Spain, at home we always listened the music of Segovia (along other musicians like Narciso Yepes, Tárrega and of course, Paco de Lucia). My parents enjoyed his music and I was raised with that. Funny thing is that I’m a big fan of your work with the Melvins and your solo stuff. So this is now a kind of a full circle for me, I don’t know haha Your story made my day. So cool to know that you also love his music and got to meet him!

Thanks for watching ! I also listened to Yepes, De Lucia, and of course Julian Bream. Segovia's biography is interesting also but only covers the beginning of his career until 1920. Worth reading.

Great story Mark! How lucky you are to have seen him live, and how nice that he was kind to a fan.

It's always a risk to meet someone you respect, but that time it was great to experience the dignity and humanity he obviously had.

@@MarkDeutrom I had a similar experience when I met BB King. And Gatemouth Brown, as well, actually. They both treated my teenage self very kindly.

I met both of those guys also ! I saw BB in London at the Royal Albert Hall and I knew he would meet people about an hour after the show if anyone hung around. I had my Stratocaster with me since I came from a practice before the show, and he signed it for me. Met Gatemouth in Austin. I had a pocket memo recorder and asked him what he would say to someone trying to record a show( I wasn't). His answer was excellent and I still have the recording....it involved breaking legs ! Both of those guys were very cool.@@livefromtheskycabin1043

@@MarkDeutrom I also saw BB at the Royal Albert Hall! In the summer of '92. I took a picture of him exiting the stage, and he looked right at me. I then met him 5 years later, and he signed the photo. Met Gatemouth in Vancouver Late 90's after his set. I took a picture with him, He was smoking his pot pipe the whole time.

Wonderful story. I understand that he had quite the reputation as a fearsome teacher, sparing no quarter on his judgement of the playing of other. And yet, so kind to you. A moment, well told. Thank you!
