Yeah, learn about the basic terminologies and how the market work first. Get proper education and learn about different markets and instrument like stocks, penny, indexes/indices, options, binary, forex, futures etc. before starting and live paper trade first before risking real capital in your portfolio. The market is a business and as a business you need to treat it seriously don't take it as a hobby and don't have a "get rich quick" mentality! Everything takes time.

You have to know that if you have 1000$ in your account at leverage 1:100, and the stock you bought moves as little as what would normally constitute a $100 loss for you, you’re instantly out of money and you lose that $1000 that you deposited.

Yes, you're basically selling something and then buying it later if that makes sense. For example, if you think the AUD will crash compared to the USD, then you basically get AUD debt, in the hope that your debt isn't going to be worth as much in the future, and then you get the USD to service that debt later and take the difference for yourself.

90% of online traders lose 90% of their capital in the first 90 days. You need to invest some serious time in learning how these markets work, setting up a risk policy & limits to which you absolutely must adhere. As for options, really understand the drivers that affect the price: underlying assets prices, volatility, interest rates, maturity and, if relevant, dividend yields. If you just want to make money off an underlying, go to Vegas, have fun and out your money on red or black! This is basically binary options.
