I personally never owned winnings but I used some and I didn’t see or feel $300+ worth. The Leone I used were the Explosion and The Anniversary ones. I really liked the feel of the Anniversary. They felt similar to my Windy lace up which were 18oz and the only fairtex I’ve had were the bgv1 and bgv 9. They reminded me of the bgv9 but with nicer hand compartment. They’re like a traditional Mexican style boxing glove but I think they aren’t as awkward as a reyes in the hand compartment. I got 16oz and I’m 6’1, 175 pounds. They fit me really good. I own a pair of Cleto Hook and Loops and I would like to ask everyone that dosent own a pair to stop saying Cleto's are the "Punchers" glove or that they have no padding. The Cleto FIGHT gloves are the ones with horse hair for padding, their training gloves are superb, and the leather is buttery soft. After I got these I gave away my Hayabusa gloves its a insult to even have that pair in the same bag as my Cleto's. Cant comment on Winning or Grant. I also owned Title and Bad Boy

Winning? Yes. Grant? Yes (though the prices for their gloves have jumped to an arguably unreasonable level). Reyes? Sorry, no. Unless you're fighting, buying a pair of Reyes gloves is not a good investment. They just don't seem to be made for longterm training. Windy, Fairtex, Twins and other Thai brands are comparable in quality, performance and durability to their Mexican & Japanese counterparts, but for a fraction of the price. People may disagree and that's fine. To each his/her own.

I agree with coach Krause except on his views on Everlast, yes the introductory gloves from everlast suck, absolutely. But the ones made in Mexico (MX and Elite pro fight gloves) are GREAT gloves. I reccomend everyone try it. The fist I can make in those (and even the Powerlock Pro Fight gloves) is 2nd to none!! I don't like winning and cleto Reyes thumb position. It's not comfortable and doesn't make as good a fist.

People continuously confuse everlasting for there cheap toy brands. Everlast protex3 evergel are amazing gloves, I actually prefer them over winning, I use them for sparring. Absolutely amazing, great protection for your hand and your partner, the mx are traditional Mexican gloves and can hurt your hand if you do not know how to punch or have weak hands, I use mx for mitt work and heavybag. Nice pop, just too hard for sparring, I like the handplacement over cleto Reyes. Sorry for the essay but I had to lay down the line. This is why you see many pros using Everlast.
@Combatives813

Yes, regular Everlast gloves are crap. However, their Protex2 and Protex2 EverGel are pretty good and reasonably priced. I use the 14oz for sparring and bag work. I noticed a huge difference in the shock my wrist when power hitting. For competition 8oz Cleto Reyes lace ups all the way!

While I was in the ISAMI store in Tokyo when i was training over in japan I put a winning glove on my right hand and a cleto reyes my left both were 16oz and winning was like a marshmellow and cleto's were like bricks. IMO winnings are the best for training, they'll protect your hands 110% and your stable mates when your sparring. If you're a puncher you should use reyes for an actual fight because they are far less padded meaning more chance for a knockout.

They are not my Reyes gloves that I had for 15 years that got lost but the twins are $75.00. Used them twice so far so I have no opinion yet but they are way better then the Ringside and Everlast in that price range I was looking at Morales gloves from Mexico but I don't know anything about them but like the Twins they are hand made from all leather.

Honestly, if I were to base it off value, I would say that Cleto Reyes are the best gloves you can buy. Sure, they are not for everyone, but they are a third of the price of Winning or Grants. Even with that said though, if you had the money, try Winning.
@AndresFnt
7 жыл бұрын
cleto reyes are not 1/3 the price of winning. cleto reyes cost 150 on average and winning gloves can be bought for 200-250 off Rakuten and if you buy them directly in Japan. they only cost 300-400 on the official site but Rakuten sells the same gloves for cheaper because it's like an ebay of Japan so its sold by private distrubters who intend to sell to other japanese but some do international shipping and it'll cost less than the official store which only charges more for the same due to import fees/taxes

I've used Hayabusa for over 1 year, heavy bag use some sparring they are comfortable, good protection and durable. There are some obscure gloves out there that are really good like Corti from Argentina, Boon, another German make (not Adidas), Pretorian from Brazil, Ring to Cage then of course you have the legendary Cleto, Grant, Winning.
@borcanmarius9716

here are the gloves that I used: my first pair: energetics- very cheap, about 25$, very very bad gloves, they have a tone of padding, I don't think you can even knock out an opponent with it, even if he lets you do it, and they make it hard to keep your fists closed, which is bad... my second pair is everlast, fighter edition, with natural skin, they are alright, paid about 100$ for them, they dry very well, if you keep them out of the bag and let them dry, it feels like they are brand new when you put them on, and I have done some stupid things with them, like train without wrappings, or hit walls with them, and they are alright... they last about 1 year if you train twice a day, every day, so yeah, they are worth the money, and they live up to they're name
