Great video and thanks for sharing. Sigenergy is kind of game changer in this solar and battery storage industry in the UK. Wish it all good luck.

We live in an all electric house. Heat pump, hvac, cooking, septic system, 4 kids with ps5’s and two Tesla EVs. We will Soon have a third and fourth EV’s as our teens learn to drive. Where do we start with a solar system with battery storage to accommodate our electricity needs?

You will never cover all of those needs all of the time. But what you can do is impact your grid reliance and switch a large portion of peak rate grid consumption to over night. Lots of opportunities and with high consumption you will generally find a faster pay back period (not a fan of these predictions tbh, mark here). I would suggest starting by finding a good imstaller and chatting it through with them.

Only thing I don’t like is that Sigenergy is yet another Chinese company. I rather support then US instead with Enphase. Better warranty (15 to 25 years) and a track record of great quality and customer support 😊

I (mark) don't fully understand the racism towards Chinese equipment. Most of the stuff in other brands involves components from China and I would be stunned if that didn't include enphase. The warranty is a strong point for sure though.

@@TheRenewablesPodcast-bv8ie Perhaps you want to support local people in the US rather than documented child labour in China.

Mark question. I still see many installers fitting 30ma rcd, rcbos, yet in most cases, the manufactures recommendation is in many products is a minimum of 100ma . I have written confirmation from 3 difffrrant manufacturers giving details .

Lots of brands no longer require any RCD protection on supply circuits to equipment. Some older inverters do require rcd protection. In terms of 30mA RCDs that is a requirement of BS7671 if the cable installation method dictates it's requirement. In cases inverters require 100mA RCDs as a minimum often SWA cable is utilised to remove the need for 30mA protection. That said I can't think of any modern inverters that require rcd protection and most when utilised would be happy on 10mA never mind 30. Be interested to see your examples.

If you're in areas of proberble power cuts, and now our networks can be controlled in emergency by disconnecting areas, I think people should really think about a small generator . Batterys will not run your home for 3 days .

Always an option but thankfully the network in the UK is surprisingly robust. That said perhaps not this winter lol
