I moved from Supply chain finance as intercompany Analyst to Procurement Analyst role so I'm agree with Trent that this movement can be done - however is not that easy for finance person to get into procurement. For what I'm seeing a lot of hiring manager , even with internal candidate , still keep asking procurement experience without see the motivation that candidates have; viceversa a Procurement person is always welcomed on finance world . Other things that has to be analyze mostly for European market is that there are not entry level procurement position so it's starting to become hard to start in that field but it's full of Finance entry level position. So my questions for Trent are 1) are you agree on what I analyzed above ? 2) which finance position you suggest to take it at the begining to go closer to procurement , is Accounts payable good enough or is better "Financial analyst " role ? Thanks a lot for your intresting videos :)

Hi sir... Is procurement is good if one is not having responsibilities related to selecting buyer and all? What one has to do to have good career there? If your contact is minimal with supplier wrt quotation, supplier selection etc. Does it really add value if all this is not included?
@supplychainsecrets
2 жыл бұрын
Think of Procurement as 'selecting' suppliers and setting up contracts. And Purchasing as the day to day 'buying' activity from those suppliers.

Hey, I had done my bachelor's in civil engineering but now I realised that I don't want to do core technical jobs...so now I am planning to do 1 year of post graduate diploma in supply chain management from Humber College (canada-Toronto) and 1 year of pg diploma in project management. By this pg diploma, can I get job in any of the industry in Canada (toronto) in different supply chain job roles like procurement, purchase, logistics and dispatch and inventory management ?

So do you work in Procurement? What is your role?
@alyaomer3

I worked as a purchasing manager and now I am a procurement manager. I have an MBA in International Trade and planning to do another MBA in Supply Chain Management along with obtaining APICS/CIPS certificates, So I can learn more-especially about logistics- and be qualified enough to be a supply chain manager in the near future.

Alya omer wow! Amazing. If You do a masters in SC why would do the cips? I thought of doing the cips, but then I think I’m gonna go for a masters. I just finished my in business, but I’m gonna start a course in purchasing and procurement next month, but in terms of Jobs I have no idea about where to start from.
@alyaomer3
4 жыл бұрын
@@euaqui8287 Thank you. ;D I see what you mean having master's in SCM should be enough. But the master's would take a long time to complete anyway. So the way I look at it, all that time and knowledge is going to make it even easier to get those certificates while doing my masters, so why not ;D. plus most of the jobs I am interested in they ask for APICS. ----- Well! I am actually leaning more towards doing APICS(+SCM masters), but hence CIPS is more available for me right now. I am going to start with CIPS. Also starting to read about six-sigma/ or the new one(Lean six-sigma) sounds interesting as well. I think my preference would be: 1.APICS(American jobs). 2.CIPS(UK+Europe and Australia probably). 3. Lean six-sigma(American jobs as well/but Japanese methodology..I think). (or all if I have the time) It all depends on where you would like to work I guess, and having more is always more competitive. :D What
