Thanks, Mark! I added an IonGen to my pond last year and it really helped with algae control.

Hi Mark, I’ve just rocked out my pond and built a rock waterfall. I’ve noticed that despite using loads of waterfall foam I’ve still got some leaking of the waterfall. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack. I was wondering if using G4 PU pond sealant over all the foam and surrounding rocks just as a belt and braces to stop any water leaking through small gaps. It’s PU like the polyurethane foam so should stick well to that and the rocks. If not I may have to take the whole thing apart which is a nightmare. I did make a small mistake of having large granite rocks positioned before I put the underlay liner, bib and overlay on which means rocking over was a bit challenging with quite big drops from the waterfall down to he liner underneath. It’s catching the water but I want to stop any getting to the bib liner if I can as it’s not draining well to the pond. Cheers

In terms of the positioning of your rocks and liner, if you're experiencing significant water loss, it may be worth considering a partial disassembly to adjust the setup. Although this can be a big job, ensuring the structure is correctly built from the ground up may save you time and effort in the long run. Remember to place the liner and underlay/bib so that water falling from the waterfall directly hits these surfaces, not the rocks, and then falls into the pond. This will help ensure that all the water stays within the system rather than seeping out around the rocks. I hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your pond and waterfall project!

@@ThePondAdvisor many thanks, I'll definitely try to sort it out. Was just wondering if the sealant over the foam might do the trick?

I'm currently in the process of building a pondless waterfall. Would you recommended under lay on top of of the pond liner as well as some underneath to protect the liner when i'm placing rocks on there? Seem some videos of people having underlay top and bottom.

Yes I would add it to both sides. Have you watched our waterfall building videos? Some people don’t use it if you’re using rounded boulders you don’t need it. I just prefer doubling up. kzitem.info/news/bejne/p22rvq1_h6xlgoo

I've got a small wildlife pond with a waterfall leading to it and there's blanket weed where the waterfall joins the pond. It hasn't spread to the rest of the pond in the two years since I built it (watching your videos as guidance so thank you so much for that 😁) but it's just really annoying. Every month or so I'll pull a load out but it's fixed onto the rocks and always leaves a bit attached, any way of removing it permanently?

@@Aquaticdolphin2789 Thanks very much, I think because the waterfall is shallow in summer it heats up and becomes the perfect breeding ground unfortunately. I've tried scrubbing the rock but if anything is left it'll grow back. I'm planning on redoing it this year with more knowledge so might just leave that rock out 😅

This is quite common, the shallow moving water allows the UV rays in the Sun to kill the beneficial bacteria plus the fish/or algae eaters can’t pick at the free food. Another thing is the constant flowing water feeds the algae. What we do is when doing your maintenance turn off the waterfall and sprinkle on Multi Clean it’s a spot treatment. When the product gets wet the product lifts the algae of the surface and you can see the dirt and algae bubble up. This process takes about 20mins you can use the product raw with a paint brush wear groves as it will irritate your skin. waterfeature.shop/products/multi-clean

hi. Had torrential rainfall this morning and afterwards saw that one of our pond fish washed out over the pond wall . : ( How can we make sure this doesn't occur in the future? Thank you for any suggestions.

Mark, my problem is that I don't have enough shelves in my pond, and the shelving I do have is too narrow. I'm thinking about using recycled milk crates to create new planting areas in the pond and to widen the existing shelves. My first question is whether these are made from safe material. I have asked suppliers, who say - reasonably enough - that their products are for industrial use and haven't been tested for their effect on aquatic life. Can you give me or point me to any advice on this point, or suggest any other ways of improving the shelf areas? Regards. Peter
Hi, I’m having about one dead fish a month. I don’t know how old the said fish were. A lot have had no damage on at all but today I took out a dead fish which was covered in dark brown spots of all sizes. It smelt pretty bad too. I can’t find any help on you tube 🤷🏼♀️ Any ideas please? Thank you

Mark I'm losing about 1-2cm of water every 2-3 days from my pond, which is an oval c.1x2.5 metres & about 1 metre deep. I can't see any wet areas around the pond. I tried switching the pump off for a day and there was no loss, so I think it's in the stream/waterfall area. I've looked carefully around the stream and can't see anywhere that water is getting out. Any ideas?

Hi I'm in the process of connecting an extra Ecopower+ filter ready for the warmer weather, my question is will i need to add some filter aid liquid to the pond when i get the new filter up and running . Thank you, Gwen.
I would start even before to get the free swimming bacteria started! The filter will take four to six weeks to mature, do you have the same filter which your doubling up?

Hi all Just had a new problem I am now over. My pond liner decided to float after all the rain we had over November and Christmas. Any water in the pond made no difference as it was just the same weight as underneath (sure a correct phrase exists somewhere). Anyway a few old weights from out the garage chucked in helped it and will stop it getting as bad again. A friend told me after relating this to him, when they were moving water to temporary tanks on a much bigger scale the 30-50 ton concrete ponds would also float and peoples swimming pools have also floated and shifted.

Great advice, if water is under the liner it’s very bad allow the water to escape to day light will help with pressure issues. If your on blue clay then build up around the sides and the extra weight in the pond will help keep the water out. We have blue clay at pond college and we have under pond drainage that runs to pump chambers on the outside of the pond to pump out using a float switch. It’s running every 20 mins at the moment with all this rain.
