My recommendation to you both is to get the vaccine as soon as you both can....once borders start opening up, the first people that are going to be allowed in/out are the vaccinated. (honestly it's the most ethical thing to do if you're going to keep traveling through the pandemic anyway)....I've been watching since this all started and hope to watch the rest of your journey.....safe travels to you both!

Forget Turkmenistan. They NEVER let NOBODY in. My advice could be: staying in Turkey until you feel everything favors your travel. You could easily and cheaply rent a place around Fethiye or Kaş to stay comfortably. (I live in Fethiye by the way). And when you can see the horizon clearly, you can set off again. As you said, it is time to adapt to changing situation. The situation now requires staying healthy. Fethiye region offers you the best escapement from the ungoing trouble around the world. Best luck, you are a lovely couple.

As I understood it from your other videos, you have the opportunity to be vaccinated in Turkey. In your place, I would take up this offer, because the risk of getting covid 19 would be much lower and it could perhaps open the doors for you at some borders if you can show that you are already vaccinated. I don't know when it will be your turn, but Turkey vaccinates relatively quickly. In July / August also several Turkish vaccines could even be approved, 7 vaccines and several drugs against Covid are currently being worked on and a stage 3 test is taking place.

If you can get into Russia , you could stay and drive all the way across to the Bearing sea , then cross into Alaska if possible. Do Alaska in the summer, when it's not cold. That way you have way fewer borders to cross and worry about whether they are open.

I've been watching Itchy Boots (a solo motor rider) and occasionaly other motor riders via youtube. Information below is amost two years old. - Border Turkey-Armenia is permanently closed. I think crossing border Turkey-Azerbeycan became possible. Georgia might require specific car insurance. - Russian visa's are always short. Almost every motor rider were rushing to reach the border on time. - In east of Turkey some gas stations might have no gas at all. - Russia, Kazakhistan, Mongolia will be a lots of riding in de van. Wide open areas. - China has nice places, but for filming you might be required to travel with a local in your van, aaargh. Anywhere wealth gap is huge, I would avoid urban areas such as big cities in USA, Brazil. Rural areas are more detached from the regulations and people lead a self-supportive life style. People not stressing, not complaining but smiling and welcoming the guests.

Turkmenistan, China and Vietnam are the toughest. I'd avoid, particularly the last two (for the bureaucracy and the expense). I was originally on my way to Malaysia via Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Myanmar and an Indochina loop, and ended up stuck in Turkey for a year as well. Had issues with the extension (I think they lost my application and never got back to me), so I've driven up to Ukraine for a couple of months instead.

Hi Both - yes it is only 3rd party for insurance (not even fire or theft !!) And the MOT is only required when using your UK based insurance ... and as we are planning to ship from USA or Canada we will get an MOT when we arrive back into the UK - we will not be driving back through Europe or any country that requires an MOT for insurance purposes 👍 I hope this helps - ps if we have to return to the UK - there is a shipping company that will ship from Istanbul to UK 😉

I postponed my around the world trip with a motorcycle. My options were to start EU to South America or to Mongolia. Eurasia looks better, but could be just as bad. Fact is, only when most countries have vaccinated 50% of the population, lockdowns can be realistically reduced. Looking at EU having so much trouble getting vaccines and vaccinating, other places will take much longer. It will take 2 years MAYBE more for boarders to normalize. Getting to some countries might no be a problem but chaining options for a world trip is hard, maybe not even possible. 3rd wave is hitting EU, will hit Turkey soon as numbers are going up again. If you wanna play it safe, Turkey is the best option to get stuck in, maybe wait another 6 months.
