I'm fairly sure that Ariarne deviated from Boxall's race plan at the Olympics. She wasn't supposed to let Ledecky get so far ahead but it worked perfectly.

Summer McIntosh didn’t handle the pressure of this race in Fukuoka 2023, my bet is on Titmus, 3’54

A quick flash of my hero - Shane Gould. Check out her 400 at Munich - she was a machine. No goggles. Old textile baggy cossie. In an outside lane. Smashed it. It's on KZitem and worth watching.

Ledecky will most likely still be around and will be good enough to still win the 1500 in the next Olympics then migrate to open water swim

both. from an american. Australian swimmers are extremely impressive and always have been pushing swimming in the right direction, plus despite the whole "aussie USA trashtalk" which is barely a thing, US and AUS swimmers are very friendly with each other.

Katie swims gallop style, the uneven cadence, and slight porpoising. Ariarne swims the more classic style with the even cadence and the 2, 2, 3 breathing pattern. I figure that is why Ariarne can win in the 200 and 400, but not in the 800 or 1500. My guess is is about breathing. With Ariarne's style, she goes into a bit of an oxygen debt. It then becomes a problem for the longer distances. If you go into oxygen debt, you can not catch up. My theory anyway.... Not all women have the power to swim gallop style. Pretty much all of the men do....
@WillYuchmow

yea facts, the longer distance events are always like a "pace with the person next to you", Katie basically said f this and just went out for it. I feel like people especially younger swimmers saw her and were like "why is no one just going for it". Hence why the 400 is so deep rn imo. Titmus is an amazing athlete but I do think she couldn't beat ledecky in the 800 or 1500 but will probably beat her in the 400.

Ariarne had abdominal surgery late last year....a slight setback, so she might struggle to emulate Tokyo and last year's World Champs. We'll see.

No it didn't. Title is misleading clickbait. Titmus won the race, that's all. You might do better explaining that Titmus is more of a 200 and 400 swimmer, with technique suited to that, while Ledecky is more of an 800 and 1500 swimmer, with technique suiuted to that.
