Just wanted to add my two cents for what it’s worth, thank you for this video. Sorry for the long-winded post but hopefully this will help someone. If you truly want to tackle rosacea, you need to treat both externally and internally. Sure there are some who manage to get rid of it with a very simple solution like tea tree, but if you’ve tried various things and are still suffering then read on. If you want to understand rosacea, learn about demodex mites, their life cycle, what kills them and what perpetuates them. For example, they consume bacteria and fungi, which is released into the skin when they die because they have no anus to excrete them, causing inflammation in the skin. This is why antibiotics appear to work temporarily as they kill the bacteria but not what’s releasing the bacteria. The little buggers also eat elastin and collagen leading to premature aging. They can colonise anywhere on the body where there are hair follicles or sweat glands, inside the nose (rhinophyma), the eyelashes and meibomian glands (ocular rosacea and dry eye) and the scalp included (causing grey hair and hair loss)! They love and consume oil, whether it is the body’s sebum or oils in cosmetics/makeup. As far as I know they can’t consume coconut oil- it suffocates them (which is likely why it’s considered very comedogenic because the mites die and release their contents which show up on the skin as blemishes or pustules). I think Vaseline and castor oil may also do the same. Chances are if you have rosacea you will be colonised in other areas with these mites, even if it’s not causing symptoms. They reproduce at night on the surface of the skin whilst you are sleeping, then lay eggs in the follicles which can take a few days to a week to mature. They can live on the skin for 2-3 weeks before dying. They hate heat and sunlight, and enough exposure will kill them. Coincidence that pale Caucasian Northern Europeans suffer more? It’s the lack of sunlight as a contributing factor to allow them to overpopulate. Read these comments and notice how lots of people’s symptoms are worse in the winter. It becomes a vicious cycle because sunlight aggravates symptoms in the short term as the mites struggle and die, which leads to increased avoidance of sun. Similar situation with exercise and saunas. Safe sun exposure (never burning and only light tan) is very good for you and needed for optimum health. Certain oils will kill them eventually like tea tree, clove, neem, black cumin seed, peppermint or eucalyptus. Most microbes cannot survive extremes of pH either so acids like ACV or alkalis such as bicarbonate can also kill/disrupt their life cycle. Once you’ve understood these mites, then try to figure out WHY they have overpopulated and why your body’s immune system is reacting to them. Whether you mean to or not, you have created an environment for them to thrive. Internally, microbes love sugar and will feed off the sugar/carbs you consume. The sugars may also alter sebum/sweat composition making your body more attractive to them, as well as altering you gut biome to allow overgrowth of harmful microbes. This is why lots of people have great results with keto/low carb/intermittent fasting, as you starve the microbes of sugar, allow the gut to recover and repopulate with beneficial microbes. Remember that bacteria and fungi need sugar so you will deplete lots of unwanted microbes which can act as food for mites, and your body can finally repair/trigger autophagy as well. There is also a link between the adrenal-pituitary hormone axis and mites (and disease in general) - essentially you want to do everything that you can to keep your body sensitive to insulin and cortisol, and not allow these hormones to run at sky-high levels all the time, which stress and eating carbs all day long will do. Research how to improve cortisol and insulin sensitivity. The things you can do to help yourself- Externally: - stop using heavy creams/oils/makeup - use tea tree wipes for eyes for 2-3 months if eyes effected - soolantra (may be curative for a few, but recurrence rate is high- so I recommend using it in conjunction with other measures. Also- don’t suddenly stop it. Wean down to alternate days for a month then twice weekly for a month then stop, and aim to stop in the summer months - Dead Sea salt soap (they hate salt) - sulphur another option - Any of the oils listed above- be careful about toxicity and don’t apply copious amounts of essential oils direct to skin - Small amount of bicarbonate mixed with water for 1 minute to worst affected areas may work very well - ACV - may need to play around with dilutions, can be very harsh on some people whilst others tolerate it - Black cumin seed oil has worked wonders for some people - Red light therapy- this kills/disrupts demodex. Those gimmicky-looking masks actually work, the red light is crucial, yellow may help with lymphatic drainage but the other colours are less important. Red light therapy will also diminish broken blood vessels/capillaries significantly Internally: - raw garlic (at least short term or monthly) can help recover and maintenance - fermented foods- water kefir and goat milk kefir are great, do some research on the importance of fermented foods - black cumin seed oil internally - tea! Ah the power of tea. Research clove, cardamom, hibiscus, sage, dandelion and black tea- then decide on a combination and drink 3 times a day. This may only need to be short term but commit to it properly if doing - stop feeding them. Sorry to say but at least try keto/IF/low carb/a mixture of these for at least a month and see if it helps. Give your body a chance to rebalance it’s biome and hormones. If you continue with carbs and sugar, would strongly recommended avoiding all bread, oats, pasta and rice (all sweet stuff apart from dark choc has to stop as well). Longer term, a carb-concentration way of eating, where you only eat carbs with one meal of the day, is a good long term strategy for health and longevity in general - stop eating plant oils, stick to olive oil, coconut oil, ghee and grass fed butter - plenty of omega 3 foods - try to eat within a 6-10hour window, find what works for you - exercise - doesn’t need to be complicated, mixture of walking/yoga/aerobics/gardening/whatever sports you enjoy - find healthy ways to manage stress- some people exercise, meditate, read - find what works for you - spend time outdoors as much as you can I appreciate some people find quick and simple cures, and that’s wonderful as it saves you a lot of time and energy. But for those who are at their wits end, start incorporating some of the suggestions above (mixture of internal and external) and I’d be very surprised if you don’t start to see a positive result. Be patient- these microbes don’t die straight away, consistency is key! (A final musing- if you follow a ketogenic diet or have read up on it, you will likely have come across or even experienced a Keto rash, or prurigo pigmentosa as it’s formally known as. It’s currently a mysterious, itchy and inflamed rash which comes about with withdrawal of carbs/sugar. It’s itchy, it’s often worse at night, it behaves like severe rosacea, and it affects areas of the body where there are lots of hair follicles and sweat glands, and is usually worse after exercise/sweating. People who power through usually see resolution after a few weeks. Most people go back on high carbs and it quickly goes away. You decide the rest!)

I've had rosacea since I was 23 years old and it stopped a year ago at 35 years old. I always suffered from it from autumn to spring, while in winter suffering from it the hardest. I realized that it was not the temperature that solved it, but the exposure to the sun. Whenever I picked up a slight tan the rosacea went away. It wasn't just "disguised" since my rosacea was very itchy, and I didn't have itchiness during the summer. The interesting thing, ever since I have been on keto and intermittent fasting around a year ago, my rosacea is gone, even during winter.

Quitting Vit D is probably worse than quitting smoking. And here we go - 4 weeks later developed rosacea!!! My beautiful silky cheeks got ugly. First, I thought it was b/c of pregnancy and hormones. But when rosacea didn't disappear after pregnancy, I started getting worried. Ivermectin didn't help at all. Only now 2,5 years later I understand it was Vit D. In the summer my skin getting better.

Also tea tree oil. I had a massive rosacea breakout on my cheek and a red nose. The tea tree oil killed the parasites. I used tea tree oil wipes. Then went on to heal my skin, of which I was most freaked out about my nose. It had pink and purple sizable pokadots on the front. I started using Cerave day/night/cleanser/retinol. Huge difference! It's been about 8 weeks or so and I think the dots are gone, but the redness on my nose isnt completely gone, yet. I believe what was the onset of this a year ago was a combination of things but the primary was the onset of serious stomach/digestive issues, which I cured drinking homemade acv daily over about 4 months. I hope my information helps someone. Before I figured this out I was freaking out and it took months to figure out a solution. Eric gave some good tips too. 🙂

Yes, I'm using neem oil. It's great for all skin problems. Also, I'm using cold pressed tamanu oil and some other cold pressed oil which aren't comedonic (coconut oil is comedonic, it pluggs pores) and sometimes some face creams without perfumes and alcohols, and which aren't comedonic too (La roche posay, bioderma etc for sensitive and cuperose skin). And I'm cleaning my face with products which haven't got perfumes and alcohols too (Toleriane dermo cleanser fluid, temporary). My biggest problem for rosacea are hot flashes (I'm in menopause) so it's direct impact on blood vassels at my face. I'm on keto diet and intermittement fasting (17-18 hours fasting / 5-6 hours eating every day) over one year now.

@@sdla690 I buy neem oil in pharmacy or in some web shops in my country which are specialised for selling cold pressed basic oils and pure essencial oils. I put neem oil alone directly on skin on my back or chest when I have got some acnes and sometimes I put few drops of neem oil directly on my dry face (few drops of oil rub between fingers or palms and then just tap on your clean face) . But I have my own home made oil mixture of few COLD PRESSED oils for face (neem, tamanu, hemp, sunflower and few others, which are no comedonic and have got many beneffits for skin). I first spray my face with Avene or Uriage thermal water and then I aply few drops of that mix of oils to damp skin (on that way you got moisture and oil components for skin, and thermal waters are very good for sensitive skin too). Sometimes I put that mix of oils on dry skin too, without thermal water (in winter usually). But if you are making your own skin mix of different basic oils, you must be sure which oils aren't comedonic and which oils are good for different skin problems (it writes on google, I can't write you all of that because English isn't my native language so I don't know how to write everything on English 😊).

My dermatologist told me years ago I have rosacea. Well, only a year ago it really broke through. It would always get worse when I was working out several times per week. Probably because of the high carb consumption that goes along with it. I didn't want rosacea but also didn't want to look ' normal ' , always wanted to workout and be stronger than average. I hate that it seems that I have to choose. As living without lots of carbs means a smaller/weaker frame. I'm trying IF now but still with carbs, also some other remedies like getting lots of sun + eating garlic on a daily basis. I'm 34 now and rosacea has controlled my life ever since I started having breakouts. I'm posting this in hopes of returning to this post and sharing the rest of my journey. Thank you for reading.

I’ve had rosacea for at least 3 constant years now. I tried numerous creams that helped keep it to minimum level. Finacea worked best at night once daily after washing and before moisturizing. I moisturize with Cera-Ve PM only on the lower part of my nose, the worst spot, but would use this for a daytime moisturizer all over my face too. I use LAROCHE-POSAY Toleraine Sensitive Crème UV SPF 30 on top of the Cera-Ve PM moisturizer for going outside including the bottom area of my nose. I use LA ROCHE-POSAY Toleriane Dermallegro Nuit as my nighttime moisturizer for everywhere except the bottom of my nose (again only Cera-Ve PM there). This all kept my rosacea to the lower part of my nose mostly but it would go up and down on my chin too. I stopped dairy, bread and high carb foods but couldn’t get rid of it like I used to quite easily with Metrogel and Doxycycline back in the day many years ago. My rosacea got worse when my general mental and physical health (chronic neck & migraine pain, non-alcoholic fatty liver from severe sugar/chocolate addiction, GERD, peri-menopause and skin sensitivities especially itchy skin, chronic sleep problems, C-PTSD, OCD, & ADHD) got worse since 2017 when my therapy and family dog’s health started to deteriorate in her older age. She was an incredible help for me mentally and physically and so much more, so when her health deteriorated, mine did too. After recovering somewhat from her passing away at 14 yrs old in Sept 2022, I’ve been working on my health much more when I can. So not surprised I haven’t been able to clear my rosacea up. I’m on day 3 of a 5 day juice cleanse and following as many health tips and protocols for juicing. When I woke up on day 2 yesterday, my rosacea was pretty much gone (no bumps anywhere or gross skin) except some slight redness on my nose and cheeks. Im also not as inflamed throughout my body. Since injuring my neck in 2004 from repetitive movement in a very toxic desk job, my whole body gets very inflamed and painful. Bad foods especially my severe chocolate/sugar addiction (where I got up to eating 2 king size chocolate bars at night for many years and only a bit less prior to that since a very young child) have always made this so much worse. However I usually eat pretty healthy during the day. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a juice cleanse, probably at least 5 years. So I’m pretty excited and happy at such fast results. I actually did the juice cleanse for my liver and anti-inflammatory struggles so was surprised at it helping my rosacea so well. I’ve been to a dermatologist but none of her recommendations of creams and antibiotic took it away this much even for a moment. It’s when I went to my Naturopathic doctor that got me going on a much healthier diet. Though the B12 and Vitamin D supplements has definitely made my rosacea get a bit worse at times so I’ve stopped them until I see my Naturopath again in a few weeks. She did not recommend juicing, it was as my own idea to try again. But I highly recommend trying a juice cleanse even trying it for just one day might help. But if you’re like me with so many health issues, definitely ask a doctor before trying first and I highly recommend a Naturopathic doctor. I’ve never had such great results from any other doctor before and I go to a pain specialist to get Cortisone injections for my neck/migraine pain so that’s saying a lot. Best of luck to those who suffer with rosacea. ❤

I have had vascular rosacea since I hit my teens. I'm now 57. Sick of the broken blood vessels on my cheeks, I had my first V Beam treatment TODAY. Second treatment in 8 weeks. I thought you were going to talk about the types of rosacea. Fasting is not the answer to everything Dr. Berg. I never had pimples or pustules. I would just flush red at the slightest provocation until I grew up and learned to hide my emotions. I don't get flushed when I work out. I don't blush anymore at anything. Blushing is not a good look on me, man. I don't even wear blush, since mostly I have tried to cover the blotchy redness on my face all these years. Finally, there is a dermatological tool to take care of it for me: V BEAM. I'm sitting here now in a puddle of vaseline. Even with the welts, my skin already looks better.

But even if I have to submit to two or three treatments every year, I will. It's $300 per treatment. I did ask about Rhofade, but my derm said THAT is temporary and if you miss a spot it's bad. I'm not saying the 2-4 treatments I plan to get will be permanent, but I do hope they will be. My skin has been pretty calm the last few years. I rarely get beet red anymore. I just have pesky red blood vessels that are very hard to hide. I would like those to disappear, and for my general blotchiness to be minimized.

I cleared up my rosacea in the early 90's with a good quality tea tree oil, and it's never came back. Lisa, I washed my face with a good soap to remove all oil etc. Then applied a few drops of the best quality Melaleuca oil made by the Melaleuca company in Idaho to each check and rubbed it in. Boy did it burn for a few seconds, but it was well worth it. I only did it once and it never came back. My rosesa was so bad the people at work called me Fred Flintstone, if you remember his face you'll know what I mean. I've never regretted doing that. My face is clear and it never came back. That was in 1992. Glad to help. Hope it works for you also. Taunya

I developed very angry red patches on my cheeks just like illustrated, then they quickly became like pustules. Now that the pustules are gone, the redness is still very prominent & angry looking but it no longer is painful. I will try the neem & all other things suggested as I continue to heal from the inside out. Thank you Dr. Berg !!!!! ❤

Dr Berg, I have always had Rosacea all my life. My diet has always been low carb for at least 8-10 years. Had 1 dose of ACV in my morning drink for many many years and I can't exactly say ACV really helps with all the redness. My diet is also quite clean. Tried fasting for more than 1 year in the 8 hr eating window and I never saw anything obvious. It was only when I dropped my eating window to 6 hrs that I saw improvements in my health. Better skin, less itchy scalp, less rosacea redness, better digestion and a slimmer face. I am very happy with the results. All thanks to u :)

I had Rosacea and the Dermatologist told me the same thing (back in the 90's) ... so, I figured it was a parasite and did a candida diet, parasite cleanse and avoided all hot food. I figured this was yeast, a definite problem for me. And that made sense, heat promotes yeast, especially when it is combined with sugar. I also put the extreme dark windows on my car, to avoid the Arizona sun from making this worse. And it worked! took a little time, but the combo of avoiding all heat, including spicy foods. I would not presume there to be only one parasite associated with rosacea symptoms, however those who have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea, chronic dry eye and blepharitis should research a parasite called demodex. Ivermectin is effective against demodex, tea tree oil is effective as a topical, borax (where available) is helpful for disinfecting bedding.

I have mild rosacea that responded to taking Lacktoferrin (1 cap daily but started at 1/8th capsule) with activated charcoal (1 teaspoon daily). Lactoferrin is known as mobilizer of toxic bile but you have to adsorb that toxic bile with the activated charcoal. I have suspected, for many years, that something toxic was trapped in my system. A lot of other symptoms such as general fatigue, bloating, and hormonal issues, in addition to the skin redness, have cleared up starting 2 months after reaching 1 capsule daily. It took 1 month to go from 1/8th cap to a full cap. Hope this helps someone. I previously used TUDCA and it wasn't the solution in my case although it temporarily helped somewhat for several months before losing effectiveness.

@susanstewart1402
Жыл бұрын
@@seemasidana2450 It is doing alright .. a little redness correctable with a bit of face powder. I was actually completely fair looking for a couple of weeks over Christmas .. thrilling! If I forget my nightly Lactoferrin (also spelt Laktoferrin) from Netherlands, and activated charcoal 30 minutes. later, I get increased redness and sinusitis together within 24 hours. If I feel symptoms of toxic bile (pain in right shoulder and neck), I take TUDCA and it clears in a few minutes. I have been taking Laktoferrin 10 minutes after TUDCA, and activated charcoal about 30 minutes later, and never felt like it was a bad combo. So all 3 within an hour and I just feel better. Detox goes in waves so I find that several nights of taking all 3 is usually enough to deal with whatever it is my liver is getting rid of. I am very sensitive and tuned into what is good for me. There is always a reason and I have learnt to trust my instincts. Processed foods are a complete nightmare, for instance, pretty much anything that causes me to have stuffed up sinuses. Nutricology brand of Laktoferrin comes from the right manufacturer in Netherlands. It is an immune peptide found in colostrum. I believe that toxicity creates the conditions where odd chronic infections thrive .. it could explain the sinusitis, rosacea connection, and could explain why Laktoferrin is helpful for both in my case. Any inflammatory exposures, such as processed foods, just adds fuel to the fire. Dr Garret Smith talks about toxic bile and Laktoferrin. His theory is that vitamin A and carotenoids are hard on the liver. We all need zinc picolinate, and vitamin D from the sun (not on face if you react) to metabolize excess vitamin A. It's funny because I used Retin-A on my face for years on the advice of a dermatologist and I believe it was not good for me .. I started getting night blindness! Taking zinc, not more vitamin A, was the answer. Hope some of this helps you! Rosacea is really not funny .. the Celtic curse.
