Do you have a broken filling and an acute, sharp toothache?
Our emergency dentists can help you fix a broken filling and stop your toothache.
To fix a broken filling, our Lincoln, NE emergency dentists would evaluate the extent of the break and decide if your tooth can be repaired with new fillings, a dental crown, or if it needs a root canal.
Why would you need a root canal? Most of the time broken fillings don’t hurt, but occasionally patients may develop a cavity under an old filling. If the cavity extends to the nerve, then pain and sharp toothache may develop. If that happens, a root canal is indicated to remove the source of a sharp toothache.
Do root canals hurt? Root canals should not hurt.
What can you do at home with a broken filling? You can use wax or temporary dental fillings purchased at your local pharmacy. This is a temporary solution to filling the space where the old filing once was. Adding wax can be an excellent temporary solution until you see an emergency dentist to place a new filling.
What filling is the best for my teeth? We use metal-free and mercury-free white dental fillings at all of our Nebraska Family Dentistry locations.
