Watching GB's defense for the last decade (and a half) has been a special hell. Its like watching great players put into a position to fail by defensive schemes so old they are on life support. I have no complaints about the Packers 2024 draft class. Brian Gutekunst tackled the Packers 3 biggest needs, the offensive line, linebacker, safety, and multiple times. But beyond the specific players, I love the traits that the Packers emphasized. On defense, at linebacker and safety, there was an emphasis on adding physical and aggressive football players as the Packers underwent not only a scheme fit under Jeff Hafley but a change in mentality as well. On offense, versatility along the offensive line was again prioritized, and when it comes to the construction of that starting 5, the Packers have quite a few more options now than they did prior to the 2024 NFL draft. I do not care about whether or not this team has a number one receiver. In fact, I like the idea of a "receiver by committee", with no stars demanding the football, no one for Love to lock in on as the primary target. It's harder to gameplan when there is no clear number one and all the receivers could be the primary target any given game or the ball is distributed to everyone. I think Jordan Love was at his worst when he was treating Christian Watson as the number one receiver and forcing passes to him. A lot of his interceptions came from that (thinking Raiders, Steelers, and 49ers games). So there is no need for a true #1. That allows more flexibility when game planning.

2 completely different scenarios. The packers already had a good team and knew that love was going to take time to develop the falcons are coming off a mediocre year and then spent a fortune getting kirk cousins which was their choice BUT then they get penix with pick 8 instead of trying to build the rest of the team especially the defense with a 3 technique or an elite pass rusher. Plus penix is ready to play now but he won't cuz of cousins. Penix can be a good to great NFL QB, but the falcons should have chose one or the other and not both which is why it's a bad decision.
