The color nuetralization is really the key to mixing colors.

Are you able to mix a magenta using primary colours?
@ChrisBreier

I think magenta is the primary color so you can’t mix it, you just have to buy it. People leave comments saying that you can mix magenta but I’ve never seen anyone demonstrate it. 🙂

This was super helpful! I'm shopping for additional paint colors after purchasing a set and struggling to mix saturated pinks and purples. I definitely need to pick up some magenta!

magenta is the way evan though is a girl color but if you want to make pinks and purples from reds use alizarin crimson or cherry red cause they are cool reds don't use pyrol red cause that's a warm red with orange in it that's y it makes brown istead of purple when you mix it with blue it need to be magenta or cool red

The warm/cool color concept doesn’t make sense to me for rose or pink. Hot pink is essentially Magenta which means you have to scale back closer to Blues and Cyans which are theoretically the “cooler” colors. While the Rose you pointed to for a “cooler” pink is closer to Red, which should be a “warmer” color. Shouldn’t the “warmer” pinks be more akin to Salmon, Coral and Peach?

I was mostly looking for a way to describe the difference between the pink that you get from red vs the pink that you get from magenta that I mixed at the start of the video. I think "hot pink" is generally a reference to a pink that is extra vibrant and not so much about the color temperature. Color terminogy is often imprecise which can be confusing! 🙂

Can I make hot pink from carmine red?
@ChrisBreier
6 ай бұрын
I don't think I have carmine but from what I can tell online it uses pigment PR23 which is basically napthol red. If that's the case than I think it would end up making a warmer pink. It definitely won't look as vivid as fluorescent pink.

Yep, it's short for Benzimidazolone Yellow. Try saying that 10 times quick!😂

There are other yellows that would work. I used to use Hansa yellow but Golden discontinued it.
