In Japan every girl has a set of dolls and accompanying furniture, etc called hinadon. It is packed away and brought out once a year on girls day. It's displayed on five shelves and consists of these dolls: the emperor, the empress, the ladies in waiting, the minister of the right, minister of the left, some musicians, all dressed in silk kimonos. Often there will be laquered items like small tables and little chests with drawers that open (the point of this message). The old dolls are often exquisite and making them was often a cottage industry.

Hi. WOW what an interesting video today!! You first item..the laquered cabinet.. we see quite often here in the UK. Sometimes they are genuine antiques but they could also be shipped in from the Orient or Asia. Made by cheap labour by very talented people. It is too big for a dollhouse. Dollhouse items are usually 1/12(1" = 1 foot) I know because I am a miniaturist. The tin of decorations are vintage and very lovely. The light-up houses are wonderful..I would love them! All the glass is very nice! The cross divine! The silver plated items are true vintage. All wonderful. Thank you. Good luck with your next finds.

They are usually called glass blown ornaments. However, they are not equal in quality. The detail and quality is usually easy to spot. One easy way to know is this, the lighter in weight the better. Some, like Christopher Radko and others can be worth good money. So lucky yo have found them. If it was me I would keep them. I personally own hundreds of them and add to them every year. My tree is only glass blown figurines from all over the world. Because of all the bright and shiny glitter and colors it makes the tree 🌲 sparkle so beautifully. And I’m originally from Europe, so it’s what I grew up with 😁

The tin of ornaments reminds me of a Bridal Ornament Collection. It is a collection of 12 meaningful old world style ornaments. Not sure of you have all 12 there...too many santas. 😅 Just wanted tobgive you an FYI for future picking. :According to tradition, the newlywed couple's Christmas tree should include the following 12 ornaments to ensure a happy life together: Rabbit (hope & faith), Angel (God's guidance in the home), Fish (God's blessing), Santa (unselfishness & goodwill), Pine Cone (motherhood & faith), Rose (beauty & affection), Fruit Basket (generosity), Bird (happiness & joy), Teapot (Hospitality), House (shelter & protection), Heart (true love) and Flower Bouquet (good wishes)."

Sadly the amazing Williamsburg Pottery is not what is used to be. They were the largest importer of home goods for years, and they had many artisans on site that made their artforms. It was located on many acres of land in warehouse after warehouse. When the owner passed away, the family built a strip type building mall and closed all the warehouses. We went there a couple years ago hoping it would have all the excitement of our visit from the 90's and it was like a ghost town, so sad, and epically scarey. I'm sure you will get good money for the pitcher.

I sold a large version of those black lacquer jewelry boxes on ebay to a woman living in Italy. It was exquisite. I got a very god price for it, nearly $100 + shipping. I wrapped it carefully and sent it to Kentucky using ebay's GSP. Both the buyer and I got a note saying this was a forbidden item, it was staying in Kentucky and she got a refund and I got the money too - I guess it was covered by ebay. I cannot figure out why it was forbidden, as I was allowed to list it as an internationally available item. It was a disappointment to the both of us, she would have loved it.

I re-finish old jewelry boxes. Lining the drawers isn't hard, it's just time-consuming. First, remove the old lining down to the wood. Sand, scrape, and curse the old glue out. Have fun. They probably didn't use stick on velour fabric (from Amazon), but basically, you cut thin cardboard, such as cereal boxes, to be very slightly smaller than the drawer interior (as the fabric will take up the excess to fit). You then cut a piece of fabric larger than the cardboard for the bottom and sides, then stick it onto the cardboard, wrapping the excess fabric around to the wrong side. Glue the back of the cardboard on each piece, and insert into the drawer, with the bottom first, then the sides. I hate doing drawers!

The glass clown ornament with 500000 across it was distributed by Old World Christmas, made in Germany in the 1980s, I believe; I used to sell them back then, and all their ornaments at that time had the star hanger on them. The 500000 refers to the hyperinflation during the Weimar Republic of the 1920s. The Christopher Radko star hanger is subtly different in shape, a little wider...

My Fire-King pieces aren’t marked. Are they fake? No*. Any long-running highly produced pattern will go through a number of different moulds. Moulds acquire cumulative layers of glass with each use until they are finally rendered useless and new moulds have to be made. At that time, any new management decisions about how the new pieces ought to be marked will be implemented. Not all moulds with a particular mark will wear out at the same time, so for brief periods, two or more kinds will be used at once. One solution to this confusion was to stop mould marks altogether and switch to foil labels - which were eventually removed by consumers. So we now find “unmarked Fire-King” that is no less valuable or collectible than pieces with any of several imprinted marks.
