The most magical moment of a routine day is when I come back home usually with groceries, finding my cat waiting behind the door, she rubs herself against my legs, I put the groceries on the table, she jumps to sniff them, then we headbutt and kiss, then it's time for food, simply awesome , a moments that I look forward every day

My 3rd child was delivered via C-section which meant that I was in the hospital for 3 days. My cat was NOT happy about this. Everyone left early one morning & everyone came back later except for me. The cat wouldn't come near dad & gave him the stink-eye wondering what he did with mom. That cat went from one end of the house to the other calling for me. He finally "found" me in the phone. Yes, I had to talk to this cat everyday on the phone to get him to calm down until I came home! 😹

OMG! Same thing with me! I left for a month for work and had a friend of mine coming to the house everyday to feed my Miss Kitty and clean her litter box. Anyway, my friend could tell MIss Kitty was unhappy with my not being there. So, I told her to put kitty on the phone. She thought I was nuts! Every day I would call just to talk to the cat and she would "Meow" back to me the entire time! I know she was telling me I love you and you need to get your ass back here! :-) I loved her so much. She was the first cat I had that I had that kind of relationship with. I was devastated when she crossed the rainbow bridge. I swore I would never get a cat again because of the loss I felt. It took 8 years, but....I now have two felines that I love just as much! And, BTW, Freddy Mercury when he was alive also called his cats and talked to them on the phone when he was on tour. Great minds think alike!

I guess this is a stray cat. He was probably dumped by his owner. He most likely is looking for a new human to take him home. That is why he greets you in hopes that you are the one. Anyway that is how I got my cat and she is a funny, sweet and cuddly girl. Most important she was saved from a brutal life outdoors, because I knew she needed a warm and loving home. If you cannot take him, maybe you know someone who can.

I didn't need to watch the video and just read the transcript instead, which was much faster. I live in NZ and everyone has indoor/outdoor cats with a cat door, as there are no predators for them here. I couldn't imagine having an indoor cat, they must be bored out of their minds. My cats were so busy when I was gone at work all day - in and out of the cat door, surveying their territory outside, people watching the people using the footpath in or street while sitting on the warm driveway (it was like a heating pad if the sun had been out), one of them had various friends she got pats from, etc.

My cats for sure miss me when I'm gone. They also show affection when I'm around. To say they don't think about future or make plans is wrong. They let me know when they want something and make plans on how to get me to do what they want. They have plans or goals. They will manipulate a situation to accomplish their goals. These goals are not always concerning food. They will do things to get me to open certain doors or boxes. They watch for opportunities to gain whatever goal they have. My cats demonstrate self awareness they recognize their own reflection and the difference between their reflection and that of another cat. I have both cats and dogs they have very different thinking processes but both demonstrate intelligence far beyond the levels they are attributed to have. They both also have emotions and can show these emotions in very clear ways. My female cat is over joked when I get home as I travel for employment. So I at times am gone for several days at a time. She will initially greet me with joy that I am home. That will then be closely followed with her form of punishment by showing me her back for an extended period. That is a planned action. She also will sleep on my travel bag and refuse to get off the bag. That action can go on for days. Not just when I'm preparing to leave or having just arrived. This is consciousness she has decided that occupying my travel bag will keep me from leaving. She also gets angry with the Labrador cuz he travels with me. I tried to get her to also travel but it was too stressful for her, crying and pacing for several days non stop is nor healthy. She just wants me home, and treats.

This one is a sad story but, my baby boy was 18 when he crossed the rainbow bridge - I was out at work that day and I got a phone call from my dad saying there was something wrong with my kitty and he sadly told me that he thinks it's "time" since he was laying on the ground unresponsive, but shallowly breathing.. I cried my eyes out the whole drive home, ran inside and yelled his name and he immediately with all his strength looked in my direction and tried to meow. My dad was amazed cause he wasn't responding to him or my brother and he hadn't moved at all since they found him in the kitchen.. so it shows how much he loved me and knew my voice that he would try to look at me... The whole drive to the vet he just kept trying to look at me, his eyes felt almost void and he was so suddenly weak and it came out of nowhere...We tried everything we could but in the end we headbutted and locked eyes til it was his end..I love him so much, I miss him..

I beg to differ but, cats do understand speach. We found this out when we had some cats sent to us from Russia. When they got to us here in Texas they didn't know what we were saying. They picked up English fairly quickly, actually. Whenever we had a client came in and Russia was their first language they would speak the native tongue and you could see the cats eyes light up. It was so interesting..

My cat, Nala is always provided for. Recently I was nit feeling good. I'm disabled, but this was deeply internal trouble I have made things much easier for whomever has to check on her. I went through surgery when she was 2, not long after adopting her. I was gone 4 weeks. Her other favorite human would stopped after school, between teaching and meetings. I had food, etc stocked up for my friend to use. But Nala would do a plaintiff cry at the door of our Apt. whenever she heard someone in hallway. So this time I had more toys, her favorite stuffed animals, pre-measured food & supplements ready, as my friend was out of town. I also had another friend get her older grandson, and an adult to come with him. For a while she was trying, but really didn't want to eat or play. Again she cried at the door "almost non-stop" in the beginning, until a neighbor across from me started talking to and comforting her. I sensed it, & in exactly 1 week I fought back from emergency 6to get home to her. Best day ever for us both. Ore- planning and lining up help may have eased my mind, but not hers. All us humans can do is our best, and do it with LOVE.😿😺

I wasn't sure whether she was sad that I was leaving. But, whenever I would take a shower, she would then go onto my bed and wait for me. And, almost every night, after I lie down, she climbs up on my chest, kneads my neck for a few minutes, purring loudly! Then, she goes to sleep between my legs. And then, wakes me up at 3am, when she wants to be fed!

Ive had that with my rescue cat. He was around 2-2½, when I adopted him from the shelter, and he'd had a rough life. He would try to eat anything, including anything reminding him of grass, leaves, twigs etc, so he was obviously used to having a "diverse" diet to fill his stomach. But even worse he was afraid of everything. It took 2 weeks for him to even get off the floor. The poor dear was so scared, but he imprinted on me right away. I was his only security in a terrifying world, and he had severe separation anxiety. Luckily I work from home, but he would panic, if I was gone even 5 minutes. It was 8 months, b4 he would stop having panic attacks, thinking I'd abandoned him, just coz I went to get groceries. Thankfully over the last 4½ years, he has grown far more confident and really feels secure in his home. As long as I dont take him outside, every 6 months for his vet check-up he wails the entire trip there, then goes limp as a rag, like hes given up on life, until we're back home. Hes learned to tolerate, that Im away from him for some hours, but hes not happy about it, he always makes sure, I know that, when I come back home, and a lot of closeness and petting is required to soothe him. I dont mind, Im just happy, that he feels secure with me, and hes a very sociable and loving cat. But I cant even imagine going away for days or even weeks, how he would react. So a long story to say - give her some time, give her lots of love and petting, and once shes convinced, u wont be "abandoning" her again, things will go back to normal.

When our cat and I were reunited, unlike a wiggly dog might react, he got the shakes, threw up, and hid for close to an hour before jumping into my lap and purred hisself to sleep. It’s been a year since then and he’s been like a shadow ever since.

My “older cat” (I know her age and birthday 2yo) I’ve had from 3months old and she doesn’t have fear of abandonment or being hungry so she’s meh about me leaving.. but my new cat (no age provided when her old owner surrendered her to me due to “too much fur”, beautiful for insta pics but bad for her furniture) is probably the same age with abandonment issues and being hungry, ptsd. I’ve had her a year and we finally took a week to go to the lake and of course I brought the girls with me and they loved it (lots of big windows for bird watching). But we accidentally left some important stuff so my son and I had to drive two hours back up to get it and just stayed one night. We got back on Wednesday night 5 days ago and Lion “new cat” hasn’t left my side even at night. My knees hurt from making space between them all night so she can sleep there 🤦♀️😂😂 Loba just came up to say meeoooooooow ur home, then grabbed a treat just to go lounge again..

My cat loves to outside with me, but when I have to leave for awhile, I tell him and he KNOWS, and doesn't walk with me to the door thinking he's going outside!

I think the sense of smell is more important than the visual or even sound to them and so they often might be thinking in a way that is more about smell and some sound the way we dream or daydream about scenes. It's different due to the structure of their brain and the, but I still imagine there is a rich world to account for the variety of personalities that cats have.

My orange tabby is very attached to me. She sleeps with me and paws af the door. My brown tabby is attached to my daughter. He follows her and snuggles her regularly. When she leaves he’s all over her when’s he returns. Biscuit making and everything. He’s so precious as she’s an only child at my house.

I travel with my cats and dog. I’ve never had a good experience with leaving my pets over the years under someone else’s care. I’m too particular I suppose. They do seem to like it. I did raise them that way so they’re used to it. The whole family is together.

My cat be chilling like it's a relief for him. He get to lay wherever he want but wn me and my kids are home he goes to a quiet place so he can sleep all day and only come out wn he's ready to eat. Sometimes he'll lay beside us or play a little bit

My cat seems to know my schedule. I am a retired widow.& spend most of my afternoons playing cards with my friends. Usually not retiring home until about 530.. I think she enjoys that solitude because the house is very quiet then. She’s not a real social cat, so I guess I should feel flattered that when I am home show usually sit on the same Chair as me. She doesn’t treat me when I come home.& I miss that because every dog I’ve ever had would be ecstatic when I came home. I guess she is just being a cat.

I swear, one of my cats, Callie, must think she's my dog's pet. Every time I let Angel (my dog) out, Callie follows her around EVERYWHERE outside, trying to be affectionate with her. Me? Callie could care less. LOL

When I was three, the next-door neighbors cat adopted me and started living at our house. That cat was known for her maternal instincts. Once we witnessed her helping another cat giving birth. Edit: my first best friend. She cuddled with me for many years.

I had a cat that spent part of his time outdoors, and he had a routine when it came to that. Generally that routine in the evening hours would be, every 45 minutes to an hour, meowing at my front to come inside, snack on some food, then go back outdoors again. My bedtime would be late night, early morning, and he was good at coming indoors to settle down. That is, with the exception when I was prepping for a roadtrip. He'd make note of the preparations I'd be doing the night before. Whereupon, his schedule would change. No longer he would be be at my door on-the-hour; and was nowhere to be found even at 3 AM when I planned to leave. At around 7 AM, in the daylight, I'd find him settled down on my neighbor's patio table, him being reluctant to move; so I'd pick him up and take him home. I contend he'd do that kind of lighthearted mischief as he knew when I left for that roadtrip, he'd be indoors for a couple of days . . . of course with plenty of food and water. Although his actions put me hours behind schedule, it never frustrated me. Instead, I found it amusing that he was cleverly observant of my actions when prepping for the trip; and he wanted to make the most of being outdoors before being confined indoors for a couple of days.

My cat hates other animals, outside of our Great Dane who somehow she tolerates. My cat will literally sniff me for 3+ minutes straight once I get home because she knows I’ve been around other people so she probably doesn’t recognize the scent. Once she realizes that it’s still “me” she goes back to sleep lol

I wonder if cats ponder things, particularly memories. Do they ever think, "Man, remember when I was living under a dumpster? Glad I'm here now" or, "I wonder whatever happened to the ginger kitten from my second litter, he wasn't the brightest. Hope he's doing well."

My 10 yr old cat came into my home at 2 yrs old. Another cat was already here. They became best buddies. My older cat (was 16) passed away in December. So current boy is now an only cat for the first time. Given that I travel a lot (using sitters who come in 2x day for trips of up to 5 days, and for longer trips, I have someone house sit for me), I am reluctant to get a new buddy for him, even an older cat. Still pondering all of this.

Cats may not have the same cognitive abilities as humans, but they still have their own unique ways of thinking and interpreting the world around them. From observing routines and internal clocks to distinguishing between humans and cats, our feline companions have their own complex thought processes. However, it's important to remember that cats rely heavily on routines and familiarity, so disruptions to their usual schedule can cause stress and anxiety. As we continue to study and understand the minds of cats, we can provide better care and companionship for our feline friends.

8:55 Jaw-Dropping Facts: No. Cats and other animals brains do not have "empty" thoughts, how thoughtless of you to say. They absolutely have plenty of thoughts and things to say. Just because we haven't learned to speak their language does not mean we have the right to say they are empty as evidenced by FleuentPet.

So Wikipedia says other animals have the other other area that deals with language that we have, Broca's area. So likely cats do. It also says that some humans process language on the right side of the brain. So I wouldn't be so sure they don't have language processing. Anyway, I am pretty sure they are processing abstract and concrete ideas somehow! I had a cat whose dry food box I stored on the fridge next to my dry cereal box. When it ran out and I hadn't replaced it - I got up the next morning to find the cat standing on the counter on top of my cereal box and meowing insistently. It seemed like an art installation titled "Where is My Food? You Have Yours!" (she had soft food too.) I complied and ran next door to the store and got her food at convenience food prices since after all her work I wasn't going to make her wait.
