Their clothes aren’t however. I can attest to this personally. They all sell for a flat rate depending on the day it may be super cheap. Especially the slacks. If you have a job that requires dress pants the local goodwill is your hookup destination. My recent haul of Brooks Brothers would have cost me probably $600 brand new. Four pairs of wool slacks cost me $40.

Yeah Goodwill here in 🇨🇦 is actually really expensive. Doesn't matter if it's a couch, t-shirt or pair of brand name jeans such as Levi's. They used to be fair with their prices but not anymore. Going to the Salvation Army or Bible for missions store is the only affordable way to go. I have snatched up a few deals on shoe's in the past at GW. Otherwise you can get brand new Levi's jeans from Walmart for the same price & type (example 501) so why buy used from Goodwill. 🤷♀️ The other place I enjoy shopping is at the Habitat for Humanity store, they have pretty much everything now including pet food and so forth.

Even pre-pandemic it really seemed like goodwill got wind of videos like this, and all the other ones pertaining to resale for profit. The things in my local goodwills (like old school technics receivers/speakers/etc) that used to be well priced for me to make a profit on are now priced much higher so that the margins are too low for me to be really interested in. :\
@Andy-ug2hm

I was in bay area for a bit last year and hit up every goodwill and literally found nothing ebay worthy to make even $20. Nothing but ridiculously priced garbage which seemed odd as plenty of rich people in area who like to donate. Couldn't even find a reasonable printer for myself. Later searched for printer on ebay within close shipping distance and first listing click on what do you know.... Seller profile SF Goodwill with like 1.5 million feedback lol They are literally reselling everything of value on ebay. Noticed same in Chicago. Denver was pretty bad too. Seems all bigger cities like that now. Some smaller cities can be ok. Stopped to visit friend in Reno and found tons stuff. One store was priced high but couple other ones were sweet. One high end rare older mint technics sold for 500 same day. Couple Ross sound that went for 250-300. Brand new tivo in box that went for 160. Then bunch of smaller items that went 50-100. We were only out 2-3 hours could barely fit stuff in the car. All the items were priced good too nothing over $15. They definitely get the good stuff still just don't put it out anymore most GWs. Used to buy pallets same crap. Stuff went from going 5-10% value and 90% items good to like people paying 25-50% and now 25% items good. Don't even see how those people can break even. Tried going distributor route buying bulk new product and some distributors don't even take new clients anymore. Ones that do are trying to sell bulk with higher per item price than ebay/amazon prices. Year back was considering getting a warehouse and buying truckloads of overstock/returns and had good supplier but it just seems market is crazy. Prices keep going up, quality down. Think these YT videos brought in masses of people trying to make a living for themselves and ruined everything. Especially with pandemic and many out of work. Garage sales are probably only way to go but even there have tons competition now. Its just not worth it anymore. Unless small scale hobby. Sorry for the long novel, had to get it out. lol

I think a lot of folks miss the point here. As far as I understand, the prices in stores like GW are higher now because so many NOT POOR people shop there...for "bargains" so they jack their stuff up so they make as much as feasible so they can do their charity bit. Periodically near me, all the GW stores will have give away days...for like 2 dollars a bag. so, it is not so cut and dry as everyone things. We had a protest that would directly benefit the poor in my state and Good Will stepped up and provided several hundred dollars worth of coats, dropped off food a couple times, and gave us tents and bedding for the winter sit ins. While they are fairly Christian, this is one of the instances that a Christian organization has stepped up.

Goodwill gets items free, sell them at bargain prices, underpays their workers. Minimum percentage goes to charity but their CEO’s are paid massive bonuses. I have been selling off and on in ebay for the last 2 years, but have recently been getting more serious about it and setting up a tracking system , especially after xmas, finding a lot of open box items.. that's all I really buy.. calculators and a few other out of box items... I don't know stuffed animals or clothes or out of box electronics, I have a decent eye for vintage stuff when I see it, but I'm learning to stick with what I know and can hit mutliple stores in a few hours. in the last 2 weeks have spent 10 hrs a week picked up 50 items all worth 2k gross and can potentially make 1.5 k net and making about $20.00 a day in net sales... I have gotten faster at listing mulitple items and even packaging as I know what supplies to use and have on hand...also knowing which items to pass up makes a big difference.. I find speed is the big difference, have to get past the learning curve 1st

Tons of brooks brothers and high dollar slacks for $12. Many of the better ones will likely only be dry clean only which is why they stay around so long. Same goes for button down long sleeves. Joeseph A. Bank, Brooks Brothers etc and 99% of the time they look new. Every time I go it never fails that I find slacks that would normally be a couple hundred dollars (sometimes they even have the tags) practically brand new. Take a few trips to the goodwill and you’ll never have to buy nice slacks at crazy prices ever again.
