Great clip introducing the cultural differences between Japan and other countries. And very interesting to know about the background story of the album title. Thanks!

OBI is very important item for record-cd manias, and HOUDAI, sub title, attracts our interest with each album not only R&R but even classical music or jazz. OBI and HOUDAI introduce some kinds of information to us to buy. We can't get no satisfaction by DL or streaming from online shops.

Amazing video, can't help to find very amusing how she kinda pretends to not understand japanese :3 great job

I'm not familiar with her prior to this video, but depending on how she learned Japanese, it may be that she knows it verbally but genuinely cannot read most of the Kanji (thousands of originally Chinese characters used in the writing system). Or, maybe she did just kinda pretend or purposely not read ahead so that Marty could set the pace of the reveal/convo. Oh, and agreed, loved the vid and looking forward to part 2!

This got me curious and I actually looked up some Japanese editions of Cannibal Corpse albums, but it looks like all of them are just straight translations using katakana for the ones that I saw (eaten back to like, kill, and tomb of the mutilated)

thanks for the insight! I didn't know about this, because the albums I have that came with an obi are all from Japanese artists, so they mostly say what is written on the album anyway 😂

ピンク・フロイドの『The Dark Side Of The Moon』の邦題『狂気』もめちゃめちゃかっこいい。

Not sure this is true story or not...One of hit song of Cindi Lauper 'Girls Just Want Have Fun' was titled 'ハイ・スクールはダンステリア’ ( means High School is Dance Terrier) when it was released in Japan but Cindi didn't know about the song has such title. Few years later, she knew the title and complained because the song is not about High School Girls. And then, the Japanese title was no longer used.

When I was a kid in the 80's, I never put the vinyl I had just bought into the shelf without removing OBI because I thought it ruins the sleeve design. I didn't understand why the sleeves had to be covered with a piece of shit paper, so I threw them away. I shouldn't have thrown away the premium stuff ? I don't care.

If you have titled it "KISS" in Japanese, people may have mistaken them as a pop band singing love ballads.
LOUDNESS「THUNDER IN THE EAST」→「轟雷渡米」······やっぱダサいか?
