Just because a Goodwill is in a wealthy neighborhood doesn’t mean that the items in it were donated by the “rich people” in that neighborhood. All donations are sent to a central warehouse where they are sorted and sent to various regional stores. Probably if you’re finding higher end items in that store, it is because that is what people in that area are buying.

This is a really fun channel. You tell us what you will be able to make from everything, but do you also have a lot of things that never sell? If so, what do you do with those things? Also, are the store clerks and managers willing and even expecting to dicker on prices? Thanks and best of luck with everything!

Most thrifts don't move on pricing much but sometimes you can negotiate on a large lot for instance. We run sales and send offers to move stale inventory and also will hold yard sales and go to flea markets to move things we no longer wish to carry.

My wife and I frequent thrift shops for hobby stuff and collectibles. I like old guild cookbooks. We have been to one's in poor areas as well as swanky areas only to discover there was a better quality of stuff at the one's in the poorest areas. More Disney authentic park collectibles. It's a fact many rich people are not that generous unless they get something in return and many who claim to be wealthy and live in those big homes and drive Range rovers are really as fake as a three dollar bill. It's amazing how creative financing can allow them to appear to be living like a king and queen. But in reality those people do themselves shop at Goodwill. They buy brand name clothes and brand name used shoes in order to to keep up the charade.

You are 100 percent correct. I am not a reseller but I am on a weight losses journey. So I started buying from goodwill. No need to buy expensive clothing when I'm only going to wear them a few times. But we went to visit family in South fl over Christmas. Some very rich people. Nothing to be found at any of the goodwill I went to.

Jacqueline Kennedy used to sell her clothes in consignment shops. She had a huge tantrum when one dress was accidently donated to a charity shop.
