Arson is not just immature, arson is extremely dangerous as fires can spread to other buildings and structures. Police cars also carry ammo which will start exploding in a fire. Whole cities have burned down from a smaller fire.

Just what I was thinking. There are good cops, there are bad cops, same with teachers, lawyers, ETC. Just because "Ant" was an educator, does not give him a free pass. Is he just fostering hate and violence to his students, he acts that way himself so that begs the question.

You have a constitutional right to protest and you have a right to being arrested for committing a crime while protesting. If you have to get physical then you are not doing it right. [plumbers are 1000 times more important than 90 % of what any ivy school teaches]

Someone with those views (violent protest is ok, even if he says it's what he did not what he believes) shouldn't be a teacher. That mindset shouldn't be a role model to kids.

"I was being immature and emotional" can be said about any crime. Ask this: if someone were throwing rocks at black people and shouting the N-word and used that excuse, would society let that person off the hook? Someone could have been seriously injured or killed in flipping a police car (plus the potential to inspire others to worse violence); thousands of dollars in damage were done. Actual loss of items or person, not just hurt feelings.

What is the purpose of the punishment? That's a high level place to start. Is it to punish, vengeance, compensate or to rehabilitate? It can be diffrant case to case. And what is the best for the community in the short term, and society in the long term?

Let the professionals (judges, police, etc.) do their job. If Anthony got sentenced to 7 months in prison, there is a reason why. The judge looked into and taken into account all the pertinent information like prior records, law broken, and standing in community. These students are idealistic and do not know the real world. Schools teach ideals and do not teach the real world, example graduate gets first job and see how little their paycheck is, and wonder why?

There are so many things wrong with this conversation. The fact that the set up was 'have you ever lost yourself at a football game? This guy just lost himself at a riot' is almost the king of false equivalence. Then to have one suggest that peoples social status should form part of the sentence consideration is another step in trying to drive social devide, not heal it. Then the tipping point was the professors instance to keep pushing ra e into the conversation. The guy on the left had the right idea, justice should be blind. How about we get behind that and stop the divisive conversations around class and race. The man in this video should be charged according to the law because he acted in a criminal manner destroying public property that in addition was law inforcement property.
