I think this is also a important video to show students everywhere because you can go somewhere so satisfying and cook some of the best foods and it would be very rewarding to get the feedback from all the scientist on how beautiful the food looks and how good it taste. I think culinary teachers should also use videos like this to Light a fire under the students and let them know they don’t just have to go work in fancy hotels or yachts or for the rich to do something great. This would be the job of a lifetime even if you do go for six months or nine months on and go home for a few months and go back or whatever it may be if it’s too tough to stay there year-round for many years. Thank you for this video Do You have to be a scientist or have experience in any of that to be a chef in Antarctica? Didn’t know if you needed to have any sort of background besides Colaneri

Your meals look absolutely terrific, double hats off to the chefs! But man, I'd hate coffee with powdered milk, I absolutely despise the stuff and I prefer milk & brown sugar or treacle in my coffee. Got a taste for it travelling in the middle east.

I wonder if the people working on these expeditions like visiting Antarctica and seeing wildlife etc. It must be strange to spend so much of your year and life down where no humans live, although there are people on board but still I personally can’t imagine wanting to spend a good portion of my life making treks to see penguins despite how luxurious some of these boats are.
@petermuller5800
8 ай бұрын
He's in Amundsen-Scott station right at the geographical South Pole, in the middle of Antarctica, far away from any penguins or boats 😁So it's even more remote there. People mostly go there for science, they are really passionate about their subject, and sometimes even appreciate there is no distraction. It's no place for "heavy socializers" though - you must be able to spend lots of time with yourself.

Fun Fact: Food freezers in Antarctica's McMurdo Station (which can house up to 1500 people) have heaters that keep the food from dropping below -7* C (-18*F) or else it would take much longer for it to thaw.

As an engineer I can only wonder why a person would want to hire someone to work on them after they have went into debt initially in their life in order to pay someone to teach them something they could look up and ask and then give them a piece of paper saying that they have a specific amount of potential which basically places the doctors that are been around generationally for millions of years without chemicals without cancerous at the bottom of the wrong as well as placing someone that has had no hands on at the top a clear-cut case nepotism one perfect example said the historian😮😢😊

I have the ApoE4 allele and sterol hyperabsorption. If I went to Antartica or the Arctic, I would not be able to eat carbohydrates, cholesterol, or saturated fat. I would have to eat a lot of oil from avocados, olives, and macadamia nuts with some lean meat, since they are low in carbohydrates, cholesterol, and saturated fat. It will not taste anything near as good as pasta, oatmeal, white rice, potatoes, beef suet, egg yolks, cream, and bacon, but it is what I have to work with. Maybe there is some way the chefs are able to make avocado, olive, and macadamia oil taste good?
