When using minoxidil how long do you have your patients have it on the scalp before washing it?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
Ай бұрын
When using minoxidil, it's generally recommended to leave the solution or foam on the scalp for at least 4 hours before washing it off. This time allows the minoxidil to be adequately absorbed into the scalp and start working effectively. However, many patients prefer to leave it on longer, including overnight, to maximize absorption. There’s no harm in leaving it on longer, as minoxidil continues to absorb and work over time. Washing it off too soon, though, can reduce its effectiveness. Key Points: Minimum Time: 4 hours. Maximum Absorption: Overnight or as long as comfortable. Frequency: Apply as directed, usually twice a day for the 5% solution or once a day for the 5% foam. This approach helps to ensure the best results from the treatment. ➡️Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/

Thank you for this valuable information, but I suffer from hereditary hair loss of the first degree. Please give me a natural solution to suppress the DHD hormone without side effects such as erectile dysfunction, sadness, etc.❤❤
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist

You're very welcome! 😊❤ I’m glad the information has been helpful! Since you're looking for a **natural solution** to help with **hereditary hair loss** and want to avoid side effects like **erectile dysfunction** or **mood changes**, there are several natural approaches to suppress **DHT** (dihydrotestosterone) and support hair growth. ### Natural DHT Blockers: Here are some **natural alternatives** that can help reduce DHT levels without the common side effects associated with prescription medications like finasteride: ### 1. **Saw Palmetto** 🌿 - **How it works**: Saw palmetto is one of the most popular natural DHT blockers. It works by inhibiting the enzyme **5-alpha-reductase**, which converts testosterone into DHT. - **How to use**: It’s commonly available in supplement form (capsules or soft gels). You can also find it in some **shampoos** and **topical treatments** designed for hair loss. - **Effectiveness**: Some studies suggest saw palmetto can slow hair thinning and promote growth, though it’s less potent than finasteride. ### 2. **Pumpkin Seed Oil** 🎃 - **How it works**: Pumpkin seed oil contains phytosterols that block **DHT production**. It’s also rich in **zinc** and **vitamin E**, which support hair health. - **How to use**: You can consume pumpkin seed oil as a supplement or apply it topically by massaging it into your scalp. - **Effectiveness**: Research has shown that pumpkin seed oil can significantly improve hair growth over time without the side effects linked to prescription DHT blockers. ### 3. **Green Tea Extract** 🍵 - **How it works**: Green tea contains **epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)**, a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to reduce DHT production and promote hair growth. - **How to use**: You can drink green tea daily or take green tea extract supplements. Some hair care products also contain green tea extract. - **Effectiveness**: Studies suggest that green tea can help protect hair follicles and reduce DHT levels naturally. ### 4. **Stinging Nettle** 🌱 - **How it works**: Stinging nettle blocks **5-alpha-reductase**, the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT, similar to how finasteride works, but without the strong side effects. - **How to use**: Available as a supplement or in hair care products like **shampoos** and **scalp serums**. - **Effectiveness**: It’s a mild DHT blocker that may help reduce hair thinning over time when used consistently. ### 5. **Rosemary Oil** 🌿 - **How it works**: Rosemary oil is known to improve **blood circulation** to the scalp and may also have some DHT-blocking effects. It’s often compared to minoxidil but with fewer side effects. - **How to use**: Dilute a few drops of rosemary oil in a carrier oil (like coconut oil) and massage it into your scalp a few times a week. - **Effectiveness**: Research shows it can stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss over time. ### 6. **Balanced Diet Rich in Hair-Supporting Nutrients** 🍽️ - **How it helps**: Focus on consuming foods that are high in **zinc**, **biotin**, **omega-3 fatty acids**, and **antioxidants**. These nutrients help reduce inflammation, support healthy hair growth, and may play a role in reducing DHT levels naturally. - **Zinc**: Helps regulate hormone levels and may inhibit DHT. - **Biotin**: Supports keratin production and hair health. - **Omega-3s**: Reduce inflammation and nourish hair follicles. ### Summary: For a natural, side-effect-free approach to hereditary hair loss, you can try supplements like **saw palmetto**, **pumpkin seed oil**, or **green tea extract**, combined with a scalp care routine using **rosemary oil**. These options won’t have the same intensity as finasteride but can be effective over time without the risks of sexual or mood-related side effects. ### Remember to Be Patient: Natural solutions often take longer to show results, so it’s important to be consistent and give these treatments at least **3-6 months** to see noticeable improvements. ➡️ Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/ if you need help finding natural hair loss solutions or products to support your hair health journey! 🌿

Sir, Love and support from India. I m 22 year old male, i have been taking treatment for androgenic alopecia since 3 years with minoxidil 5%, T-finalo, and triboost . I had to stop taking medicines after undergoing surgery of gastric perforation. Now my hair loss has increased drastically. Is that true taking medication orally would effect stomach lining!?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
5 ай бұрын
It's incredibly important to approach the treatment of androgenic alopecia with a holistic view, considering not just the symptoms but the underlying causes and how treatments affect your overall health. Your concern about oral medications affecting the stomach lining is valid, especially given your history of gastric perforation. Medications, particularly those taken orally, can indeed have side effects that impact the gastrointestinal tract, including the stomach lining. This is because they can cause irritation or even lead to more severe issues in sensitive individuals or those with pre-existing conditions. After surgery or any gastric issue, it's crucial to reassess your treatment plan for hair loss to ensure it aligns with your current health status. The components you've been using-minoxidil, T-finalo (likely a form of finasteride), and triboost-target different aspects of hair loss, with minoxidil focusing on blood flow enhancement to the scalp. However, systemic treatments like finasteride can have side effects, including potential gastrointestinal discomfort for some people. Given your situation, it might be worth exploring topical treatments that minimize systemic absorption and therefore potential stomach-related side effects. Additionally, looking into non-pharmaceutical interventions such as laser therapy, specialized scalp treatments, or natural supplements (with a focus on gut health to ensure nutrient absorption) could be beneficial. It's always best to consult with a healthcare provider or a trichologist, especially one familiar with your medical history, before making any changes to your treatment plan. Our approach is to identify and tackle the root cause of hair loss, whether it's DHT, nutritional deficiencies, or inflammation, as simply applying minoxidil without addressing these underlying factors may not yield the desired results. Since you're experiencing an increase in hair loss after stopping your medications, revisiting your treatment strategy with a professional who can tailor advice to your specific health needs and history is crucial. Hi, so I switched to oral and I’ve been shedding for around 3 months and I’ve been on oral for 4. I’m starting to feel like topical was working a lot better for me as I didn’t shed and had some regrowth on my hairline which has been lost ever since starting oral. Should I start adding topical back on and eventually wean off oral?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's common for individuals to react differently to topical versus oral treatments like minoxidil. In your case, since you noticed positive results with topical minoxidil and are experiencing shedding with oral minoxidil, it might be beneficial to reintegrate the topical application while monitoring your response. It's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional or a trichologist to tailor the treatment to your specific condition and needs. They can guide you on how to balance or transition between treatments effectively. Melissa Fox (Customer Service) ➡️Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/

Back in 2019 I did aggressive weight loss with no proper diet and got fever due to low count WBC but got recovered with in a week I never did blood for Vitamin d zinc ferritin and serum iron after one year of started losing hair I tried minoxidil and finasteride for couple years and recently spot using them completely and my hair went back to that shedding phase again and finally im doing my blood test next week if it’s a nutritional hair loss what’s the possibility to get hair back as before even after 5 years ?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
6 ай бұрын
Given your insights, it appears there's a hopeful chance for hair recovery, especially since the hair loss is being addressed within a timeframe that could allow for regrowth before the hair follicles potentially cease to function, hair follicles usually dies in 7 years since the hair loss occurs so you are good! . If the cause of your hair loss is indeed nutritional and you're now taking steps to correct these deficiencies, there's a positive possibility that your hair can regain its previous condition. Ensuring you're getting the right nutrients and addressing any other underlying causes of hair loss are crucial steps. Remember, individual results can vary, so it's important to manage expectations and continue monitoring your progress. Melissa Fox (Customer Service) ➡️Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/
