What an encouraging video. I struggle a lot with students (specially adolescents and some seniors) with very poor awareness. They just can't tell me what they feel or how different two sounds feel one after the other even tho they're changing registers!. You made me realize that sometimes I get upset for it and insist, adding concepts and actions and that's just putting out the fire with gasoline, because we both get frustrated. I should probably work on my anxiety as a teacher too! thank you, Claudia.

I am so glad this resonated with you! I have been both a more effective and happier teacher since I realized that my first priority is to create the best learning environment as I can for my students. What that means will vary for each one, based on their learning preferences and whatever their state may be when they show up for a lesson. When we do our best to help a student feel safe, seen, and supported, we create conditions where learning, retention, and self-validation are more likely to occur. We also help to create a positive feedback loop-they associate feelings of confidence and accomplishment with the learning process, and that will definitely be more encouraging for continued progress than an atmosphere of fear, frustration and impatience.
