Great videos. For me a traditional guitar of course, but the most important is the musician.

Trad is where it's at! Lattice, double top, triple sides, square sound hole, whatever. Some are nicer than others, but it is impossible to beat the sound of a good traditional guitar, it's just not going to happen.

The traditional is so much more beautiful. It has a warmth and character I love. I find lattices and double tops too punchy and mid-rangey. Thanks for your interesting video.

Agree on the punchy and mid-rangey sound of the doubletop and lattice braced guitars! Thanks for the comment.

I love these videos. You show such joyful expression when you play these guitars. The collection of guitars all seem to be not just fantastic guitars to play but works of art! Thank you.

I really appreciate how you present guitars of different construction and different periods one after the other, with musical pieces that clearly display the guitar’s strengths and weaknesses. Where I live in the US (Tennessee) being able to find a good traditional guitar, a double top, and a lattice braced guitar in the same place (outside a university) is not easy to do. Being able to hear all these different types of guitars by different luthiers in one place is a real treasure trove! Keep up the excellent work!

Lattice and double top sound like crap compared to even a medium good traditional guitar. Nasty, nasal, very uneven, very bass heavy - boomy, can't believe young "musicians" are doing this to music for only about 3-5 db gain in volume which is only around the player anyway. How can anyone sacrifice on the beauty of music for volume. No real musician would do this...ever. Can you imagine Horowitz, Casals, Heifetz, Rampal, Rostropovich....doing something like that? Hell no! Never.

For me when you switch from a lattice to a traditional guitar its like going from black and white to colour. Each to their own and circumstances though. Segovia wrote he loved his Fleta but it started to unglue itself during a tour of the USA. David Russell says he loves traditional guitars but he found they are too unpredictable when moved from one location to another very quickly he gave the example of playing in Northern Europe one day and Southern Europe the next. His double top takes the change in its stride but he was never sure what he was going to get with the other when he opened the case.

The new double top guitar was less interesting in its sound to me than the new Lattice top guitar or the older standard "fan?" style tops. The double top notes felt somewhat truncated or "compressed?" when the older standard guitar.

Jullian does the best performance when showcasing a guitar. He highlights the correct features. The French guitar is really a pleasant sounding instrument.

Just helping; Julian is a wonderful name, my younger son's name is Julian but this cool cat's name is Jouyan. I think it's the Iranian version of Julian or John or something.

I am in awe of the guitars shown/demonstrated during this week's WGM! I especially liked the Engelbrecht, the Fischer and the Adalid guitar. You were right on in your description of these guitars. I prefer the Adalid guitar because of my preference for 'softer' sounding instruments, but when I win the lottery I will make a trip to Karlsrhue to collect all three guitars!

This is actually the melodie of Andante BWV 1003 by Bach. Jouyan made a more rhythmical and jazzy version of it.
