Unlikely, a lot of the vehicles for GTA are outsourced, and the sheer amount of cars in the game means that you can't spend a lot of time on any one of them. Having a good eye helps a lot but you'll never get it perfect. I would be surprised if any one of the artists got to spend more than a couple of weeks on each car.

I love how you aren’t the type to tip toe around an issue. If there’s a design feature that does the vehicle no favors, you have no problem pointing it out and explaining why. @notonlyhuman6073
3 жыл бұрын
@@sillygoose7473 Sentiment and gratuity mean very little in the world of design. The *intent* to make a design as a show of respect or honor only goes so far. At the end of the day, the appearance and functionality is all that really matters. If its ugly, its ugly, and that's simply Frank's valid opinion. Frank: "Wow this design is kind of bad, and it looses all of the intent and purpose of the original" Ollie: "YeAh, bUt tHeY dEsiGnEd iT iN yOUr hOnOr. How dARe yOu sAy tHaT?" Frank: "In *MY* honor? Well pardon me, I *love* it!" As much as you would like for this fantasy scenario to be true, it doesn't happen in the real world. These designers aren't Frank's children. He's not going to tell them that they did a wonderful job, give them a kiss, and pin their work to the refrigerator. He's going to instead give them real sincere feedback. And hopefully they can be even better at their job from it. Honesty and critical analysis is crucial to growth. The idea that "just because someone did a thing necessitates that we all applaud them" is what's pathetic.

It's fun to see how far they can push the limits of copyright law, but I feel like it works against their art direction, and maybe even their own worldbuilding. Their cars in the the last games were connected to their source material but also believable and unique enough to stand on their own eg. the Dilettante, the Willard, the Hakumai, the Oracle and Perennial from IV to name some personal favourites.
@suitsandstrings55
3 жыл бұрын
I think they've been doing it more for a couple of reasons. For the older cars, I'd think Mazda is much less likely to go after someone making a car look like the RX-7 that Lamborghini would be of someone copying a newer design. They become much less "protected" over time. Second, now that GTA is just a live service, newer additions get far less press than an actual release. Mercedes had issues with the front of GTAs version of the C63 on release but I don't think they said anything about the classic SLs released. Not to mention the attachment of the millions of users to what's there, a C&D by a company would hurt worse from a PR standpoint than they'd ever gain from filing.

As always, another wonderful review, Frank. It seems the GTA protocol is to combine two or three different Cars into one. For example, the Weeny Issi combines your Mini Cooper design with the front lights of the early 2000's Porsche 911, and the rear lights of the first generation Smart Car. The Progen T20 has your Mclaren P1 design, as well as some Mclaren F1 influence on the shape of the side intake. The Karin Calico has a front end inspired by the first generation Bentley Continental Gt Coupe. The Dinka Jester RR has a front end heavily inspired by the new BMW 4 series with the full-face grille. It looks like they took both BMW full-face grilles and fused them into one to get that shape. Even the two lights on each side look inspired by the new BMW design language. And on the rear end you have round halo lights, a trend BMW started with their front lights. The exhaust and diffuser section looks like it was inspired by the Aston Martin Rapide AMR. The Grotti Itali RSX looks like a combination of the Ferrari SF90, and the Lamborghini Centenario. I look forward to seeing your GTA design. Don't forget, you said you were going to do a Batmobile design too.

Hey, could you do a video on how KIA , Hyundai use styling cues from other car manufacturers like VW , BMW , GM etc… I always see a culmination of other brands in there products. I know of them hiring designers , engineers from these manufacturers but still would be fun if you dissected some of there models.

The light pods on the Karin are what were actually used on the rally car though. They would be put on as soon as it turns dark Honestly though. I did put them on mine, but maybe I should take them off
