so cool. The timelapse make it seem so small. Also love the spectral reflection off of the atmosphere.

I watched this with a mixture of feelings of both awe and horror. The awe is self-explanatory, the horror was from seeing all those lights just burning and burning on the ground and covering so much of the land. And, I knew that I'd seen a similar vision once upon a time. Here's the late great visionary artist/ storyteller/ mythmaker Jack Kirby's prophetic depiction of such a thing from New Gods,circa 1970.

You are seeing the larger clouds at a huge distance, it's only the smaller clouds which we normally view much closer from the ground that we can see moving. Rather like if you were standing in front of a huge wave, you'd see it come at you real quick, but If you saw it from a great distance it wouldn't look like it was moving at all. Plus the sped up time lapse isn't fast enough to capture any movement before the clouds go out of shot.

There are stars in the background in this video for some reason. This may have been added in but cameras can't usually pick up stars because of the light from earth and our sun. But your eyes can pick them up and its probably amazing.
@renedekker9806

It's because it is the night side of the planet. Most pictures are from the dayside of the earth, which require lower exposure settings for the camera, because otherwise the earth will be overexposed. The lower exposure settings will not pick up the weak light of the stars.

There's no way this can be real. If there's cameras that can see the lights on Earth down below, then they must see more stars in space. If this satellite really orbited the Earth, we'd see the Moon and the Sun at some point. But it's intereting anyway :3

You don't feel speed when you're in space because there is no resistance like air for example you feel it on earth but in space it's just a vacuum you never slow down in space. There is nothing to slow you down.

lol, there are a lot of factors that effect visibility on the ISS, what's important to note is that all these images were taken with long shutters so you'd have to stare at the window for quite a bit of time before you'd see lightning strikes/city lights. another thing is the curvature of the earth effects how lights from cities pass through the atmosphere and eventually reach the ISS. alas, it's very unlikely that this video is fake

@DedwenOsiris1 1) You can see plane trails from space, you just need to zoom in just a bit. 2) The clouds don't move because they barely move when you view them from space. The time lapse is just barely faster than real-time.
