Can see the motorbike helping massively with arm strength and arm pump etc. Also processing details at the fast speeds and making those split second decisions.

Yup, I'm surprised MX or any form of motorbike isn't compulsory training now, BK seems to get it too, putting in the same seat time at higher speeds on a bicycle takes a lot longer and isn't possible to match at some point. If your not used to going 40 if feels really fast on a bike, but if your able to get used to 50, 40 becomes more manageable. Interesting note: watch race-car driver interviews, that principle goes all the way up to about 220mph, where humans are no longer able to see and react fast enough to avoid any unplanned obstacles (and why Indy and NASCAR don't and wont go faster than they do).

Looks like the „just sending it“ way Martyn talked about in the DSS doesn‘t exist anymore. It‘s about being professional.

Unfortunately you missed one of the essential things needed, which makes me wonder how many more riders there are out there with Matt's exceptional race talent that we will never see. As with many other competitive sports, money is the very first thing anybody needs just to start each race, let alone show consistency throughout an entire season.

It helps, but i honestly dont think it's anywhere near as important in MTB racing as some other types of racing. I know a few really good racers who grew up racing old bikes and blagging lifts to races

@@neildonoghueMTB I agree, money for most of us isn't the main hurdle. But when I went from my $200 (AUD) ~2004 Azzurri to a 2019 Stumpy it was like opening the door to a whole new universe of speed and joy. However, it maybe different now with the speed of development of MTB tech, so called "old bikes" aren't so bad. You'd think I was pushin' Rich's new vid "How far can you push a budget mountain bike (Part 2)". I suppose I sort of am. I'd like to see more about how to get 2 sets of quality rubber under those kids out there that don't have the same access to the resources us privileged have.

It's amusing to compare a liter bike to racing downhill. I'll choose the 200hp machine every time. They're so easy to ride fast! Compared to that ,downhill is terrifying.I cant believe how they can do some of the things they do.This from someone who's ridden (and sometimes raced) dirt bikes for years

That's because it's a massive shimano advert. Says 'add' in the top corner of the thumbnail and 'in association with shimano' in the description.
