I know you mean well and he is very strong, but you basically just said his life is so bad that you would k!ll yourself if you experienced it. I think it’s important to remember that disabled people don’t have super strength, they quite literally have no other option. Paul has a wonderful life, support system, he found love and is treated so well, he makes good money doing things he enjoys, has wonderful friends and a beautiful home. He has soooooo much more than so many people, I don’t think he would trade his life for the world ❤

@@Rainbow_kidd well of course. But Matthew just doing it for a second shows all that Paul has to do throughout his day and it’s a lot. I know he doesn’t have a choice but to adapt, but it genuinely seems like he makes the best out of a shitty situation.

Cope. It seems odd until disability hits you up. And then...you cope. And once you let go of the idea that you could actually know what your future REALLY was going to be, (i wanted to be healthy into extreme old age and then unalive jn my sleep with no disability ever) you move forward with what you have. You have to. It's natural.

Exactly! I honestly wonder if that's why so many of us disabled folk, at least in my limited experience, are the most cheerful and optimistic people around. Disability is the unthinkable to a lot of people, and for many of us who have become disabled over time, it used to be for us. And it's our lives, and we survive it and work with it every day. If we can take on this challenge, we can take on anything.

I'm grateful on a daily basis that the algorithm brought you to me, because you are such an incredibly beautiful couple. Paul, you're so strong and inspiring dealing with retinitis pigmentosa with a smile and a cheerful attitude. Matthew, your support is also inspiring and so heartwarming. It's easy to see why you love Paul (and his adorable Simba-look-alike other half, Mr. Maple!), but the fact that you always seem to support Paul how he needs it depending on the situation is amazing. The tricks at restaurants; mimicking his precise blindness to step into his shoes; sitting on the floor together after getting bad news; they are all simply beautiful. Thanks to all three of you!
