Thank you! Nobody has ever explained this in a way I could understand until now! So appreciated!

This happened to me. the real difference is not leaning forward. its maintaining a strong core and lifting your knees. this is essentially what is happening but the “leaning” explanation helps

Everyone makes fun of me for the way I run because when I was younger and in elementary school I didn’t ever run and when I did I ran with my upper body leaning forward like the first example she showed but worse. I still run like that but I’m slowly working on it so I do it without thinking about it. Thank you so much for explaining this

Youve been so helpful with this! Thank you. I notice when my shins, and knees start to hurt when I’m running it’s because of my posture (leaning forward) and as soon as I adjust myself, the hurting stops immediately!!! I also noticed olympians that run track have the same stance and run upward versus leaned over lol

This is basic physics, you are essentially using gravity to pull you down and just catching yourself in rythm. Instead of propelling yourself, you are just constantly catching yourself which requires less exertion

Funnily enough i picked up this form over time at the treadmill, like for weeks id lean forward too much and eventually i said "why am i so far up, am i in a rush or something?" And then i leaned back a little but not too much and found it easier to maintain. I appreciate people actually explaining this because i know how much harder going to the gym was before i knew what was the correct form

I haven't run in nearly 9 years, because no one ever taught me how to run *properly* in the military, they just said "go run", and I have Achilles tendonopathy to show for it. They threw me onto an alternate event and forgot about me. Fast forward to now, I want to be able to walk where I need to go without pain. I caught this short the other day, decided to give this a try. Happy to say I managed a whole 1/8th of a mile! LOL... it was hardly anything at all, but the limiting factor was my conditioning, *not* my -opathy. Thanks for the advice, will be following!

A thing you can also teach people is how the foot lands, you generally don't want to go heel toe. Always land on your toes, heels basically should never touch ground
