Thank you for this, I have celiac disease (allergic to gluten) and I have always been curious about the gluten free options in Japan. Maybe you could do a whole gluten free guide to Japan one day?

Sorry @jacobdonahue1994 your not allergic to gluten you have a disease like me what comes from a gluten sensitivity. celiac or celiac DH, it's not an allergy. in this kitchen they still use grains which alll have gluten so stay away. it's not for us. unless you eat only meat but the kitchen can not be cross contaminated.

Cooked fresh, Filling, salty, starchy, flavorful, fairly simple and comforting; both versions seem like they could really nourish the spirit, mind and body. But Kazu's really was ....Seoul food.

I'm so happy to see a video on gluten free food in Japan. I found out I'm gluten intolerant a few years after visiting japan. I hope to return to Japan soon, but I'm not sure how gluten in tolerence/allergie is handled. Glad to see there will be at least one restaurant I can eat something

Reminder that gluten free food is like lactose free dairy, it's made for people with dietary restrictions and it does not provide any significant health benefits Great video

When a person must eat gluten-free, dining out can be so highly stressful or depressing. To have a restaurant that makes a dish that does notctaste or feel like a GF compromise is fantastic! It really fills a niche.

I know that English menus are common in restaurants in Tokyo due to tourism, but is it the same in Kyoto and other cities? I've been to Kyoto over a decade ago but wasn't there for long, plus I don't remember much, and food was already prepared for my group (since the entire trip was planned and organized by a tour agency) so I never had to look at any menu.

In japan specifically? Or in general. In general yes and I would assume the same holds true for Japan. It’s like companies that make alternatives to foods like peanut butter (other nut or seed butters) or bovine dairy (goat milk, nut milks, soy milk)
