right? I would have though there was a more certified/standard method. Seems like you can have a large amount of variation between footballs prepared by other teams and the methods used to prepare the ball. I would have expected a lot more structure from an organization the size of the NFL.

I know the products that you use now to get them to look like that.. is there anyway you are able to list kind of a step by step with what you do in what order and how long in between steps. Like how long after you buff out the shaving cream to apply the leather conditioner.. then how much mud to use( use straight out of container or mix with water) and how long to let mud dry before brushing it off

I just got ball #199 from 2021 season. Ball is so sticky it’s nuts. I believe they add lexol before every game or something for the tack.

People saying the Patriots deflate their footballs before they begin breaking them in, intending that as a roast, but according to the Wilson official website, that actually is one of the first steps because it make the leather more receptive to the conditioner and tack spray.

They use the same mud that's used on baseballs, Miracle Mud. One guy gathers it from the banks of the Delaware river, "cleans" it, then sells it to teams. You can see it on the shelf when he gets the shaving cream.

There’s two, he first uses “barbasol original” to help soften and take the dye out, then uses “fiebings 100% Pure Neatsfoot oil” again and dry that up with the heat gun. I’ve haven’t tried this process but am planning to. Ive used the Wilson leather brush and wax and those work great!

that is a special machine that not only are the bristles put on there but it also does not spin as fast as a normal bench grinder, it has been geared down. I am fairly certain was made for Red Wing boots and then was sold to NFL teams. Those attachments aren't sold in public

He uses “Barbasol Shaving Cream Original” in one of the steps and according to someone else’s comment the mud is “Lena BlackBurne Rubbing Mud” He uses “Barbasol Shaving Cream Original”. The leather softener was “Fiebing 100% Pure Neatsfoot Oil”.

extra time costs extra money and the more the manufacturer handles the ball the risk of more variables could increase. also, different QB's may like different things. this ensures that each team gets a standard ball and is able to work it in the way that suits them best within a set of guidelines the nfl passes down.
