Awesome video!! If i'm using a 204 CFM inline fan with filter to exhaust air from my room, what type of fan would i need to bring in fresh air to the room? I'm planning on bringing in the air from the house and not outside. Thanks in advance.
@GrowingAnswers
3 жыл бұрын
Well first if you plan to exhaust air to the outside then air from the outside will replace the air you exhaust. Unless your home is air tight. Then at that point your house would become a low pressure vacuum and you’d go into hypoxia. That’s obviously not possible...The point is, the volume of aid you exhaust to the outside will be equivalent to the air coming in through door frames, window seals, outlets etc. And that should answer your other question too. You don’t need 2 fans unless your talking about exhausting the tent into the room. Then you’d need to vent the room too. Just about any fan would work for that.

I have a few other random plants in there - it's pretty full. I have 2x 1000 LED grow lights and just picked up 4 Barina 42W T8 grow lights for the Tower Garden. I have 1 mini fan in there and the humidity is very high 86%. I understand from your video that I could purchase 6" AC Infinity Inline to extract the air out. Would this be all I need, do I need to bring air in also?? I am having a very hard time trying to figure out all the things I need. I am currently watching all your videos to learn. @GrowingAnswers
3 жыл бұрын
Extracting air brings in the air. And that’s a pretty large space. If there is an 8 inch version it might be better to use that to run at lower speeds but 6 should be OK. It doesn’t need to run very fast speeds unless the temperature climbs up. The more heat build up the more air and movement you need. You’ll need to tailor it to your conditions.

quesnelle200 depends on the amount of plants. The more congested it is, the more flow you need. A desk fan won’t really cut it if you fill up that 4x4. On a 2x2 it would, but a 4x4 is pushing it. You can try it and monitor humidity levels. If you can’t get humidity low enough, you need more power.

@GrowingAnswers

The amount of air you suck out of your house is equivalent to the amount of air that comes back in from the outside cumulatively Through every window frame and crevice and door. To put that in perspective it would be like putting a fan on your windowsill and blowing the air in from the outside. But unless your house is very small and your furnace does not work well you likely will not notice. It likely would just increase your heating bill a little bit.

Health Mind & More not sure I understand what you mean. I have a few tents venting in my basement all the time and never see humidify over 60%. But my basement is waterproofed so having a dry environment to start with helps. If you need to add humidity, it should never have to be much with hydro because the roots are always pumping moisture to the leaves. That’s a circumstantial question.

The mushroom/humidity damage is a myth to strengthen the drug war folklore. Even with a huge flood and drain system, Kratky tubs all over, a RDWC system and whatever else you can think of growing in a basement with, your RH won’t be a concern unless you live somewhere that already has high humidity. Then you’d just run a dehumidifier to keep it at where you want it.

Tom Bryant that’s not true. High humidity in a grow tent growing something like cucumbers would lead to powdery mildew an mold pretty quick. I gotten mold before on tomato plants on the lower leaves where they were visibly moist compared to the upper leaves. It’s because my airflow was too low and I needed to prune.

@GrowingAnswers

Jennifer it all depends on how much is in it. 6 inch inline fan would be fine, but the flow rate depends on the humidity. You need a humidity gauge and then adjust the flow rate to keep the humidity from rising too high. It’s a matter of dialing it in for your situation. 80% humidity is ok for seedlings, but some adults plants don’t like it that high. Plants like tomatoes and cucumbers can get diseases or mildew easier with higher humidity.

Would someone turn of an aquarium filtration system every day?? No. People who really need every single detail spelled out for them should not bother invest. There’s a certain sense of common understanding people should be responsible for. And if they don’t have it, they can learn from mistakes. I didn’t grow up with KZitem and watching videos feeling like I’m entitled to information. I learned by doing. I shouldn’t see anyone of adult age googling how to jumpstart a car, but I have seen it. It’s sad.

@@GrowingAnswers "One just needs to assume you leave the fan running 24/7." I can only assume that I need air circulation. Not how much and when. It is like telling people they need them Lights to grow plants, and not being specific. I think everybody can assume those basic things Lights, Air, Fertilization etc. but not specifics. For Christ sake.

Great video. My tent is 2x4x5. I’ve got a 280 cfm 4 inch inline fan, but in the lowest setting ( it goes 0 to 100 per cent). My tent is in a closet and I duct aiming to vent out the crack in the closet but I’m worried enough fresh air won’t come in when the closet doors are closed. Or will it draw in with the air vacuum created
@GrowingAnswers

CpnStbn12 just put your hand where the air would be drawn in and see if there is any air moving. The exhaust needs to be sealed so that it’s not just blowing around the room.

2 questions... im growing peppers... i have an intake duct fan at the bottom bringing fresh air in... is an exhaust fan necessary? I leave the top port open and the top of the door cracked and feel air coming out. Also do the fans inside need to run 24/7? Or could i turn them off and open the door when the lights are off?
@GrowingAnswers

It’s better to not blow air into the tent. But no you do not need more than one fan. It’s best to have a negative pressure in a tent. As far as the timing goes, my fans are always on 24 seven on low.

can I put the carbon filter outside the tent - ducting leading into tent hole - to the fan which faces into the tent??
@GrowingAnswers

Carbon filters have a pre-filter that goes on the outside of them to filter dust. If you force air from the inside out then you don’t filter the dust and you will clog up your carbon sooner. However you decide to do it, you want to be pulling air out of your tent and not pushing it in. In other words your tent needs to have the walls being sucked inward while the fan is in use.

Any cheap Walmart fan. People think you need powerful wind. That’s not true. Any amount of circulation with a small fan is fine for small spaces.

Thanks for the Info! A quick question for you, for a 10x10x6'11 grow tent I am using 12 250watt LED's - would a S10 (Airflow: 1201 CFM) be an adequate amount of airflow ?
@GrowingAnswers
4 жыл бұрын
Andrew S 3000 watts of light? I imagine that’s a lot of heat. Ur exchanging the air in the room roughly every 30 seconds. So yes I would say that’s more than enough flow.
@andrux6308
4 жыл бұрын
@@GrowingAnswers Okay ! Thanks for the response! I must have something wrong in my calculation for CFM then. I was told 10x10x6'11 would be 690 CFM and each LED light would add roughly 7% along with the carbon air filter adding 25% of total. So (690 CFM x 48% ) + (25%) = to about 1275 CFM So for the LED lights is it just 7% of total not 7% for each light ?
@GrowingAnswers
4 жыл бұрын
@@andrux6308 You said ur fan was 1201 cfm. Im not doing exact calculations. Its just a rough figure. If you have that kind of setup it sounds like you already know what ur doing though. If you have LED then most of your heat will accumulate it the top. So if you have exhaust at the top of the tent and inlets at the bottom, you should have no problem removing heat. I would go as far as to say you only need half that CFM. as far as plants go i dont think they even need the air to be fully exchanged once a minute. So sounds like ur good either way.

Should I use a 4 inch incline duct fan instead of a 6 inch fo 3 plants because it's sucking to much air
@GrowingAnswers
Жыл бұрын
These days with the use of very efficient LEDs, there is no need for high airflow. High airflow in the past was for heat extraction from inefficient HID lights. These days it’s mainly for air exchange and humidity control. No need for fast fans or large ducts

Can someone answer me this . Is it better to have 2 exhaust fans or 1 with the equivalent cfm3? I’m considering buying either 2 at 1400cfm each or 1 at 2800cfm , I wanted just the one but realised it would be much heavier to install but then I started wondering if I had 2 they Would possibly fight against each other?
