He's currently ranked 10th in the U.S. in the 400m. If he can make the finals of the trials, he will at least become a relay alternate. He can come out of his 1st Olympics with a gold metal. Not a bad start.

Nothing happened to him. He's still a young pro athlete and has potential. He has already won gold medals on the US 4x400 and mixed relays which are not minor achievements.

He tried the 100m, the 200m, and the 400m at the Olympic trial and came up short. He even let a 16 year old high school student dust him in the 400m. I don’t believe he’s going to keep trying to live up to the good old days. He doesn’t have what it takes to win at the professional level.

@@MrRon1124 The 16 year old is beating almost everyone not just Bowling. Bowling has only been running pro for only three years and is running sub 45 in 400. That is not and easy accomplishments. He still has the potential to run a under 44s in the future if he stays healthy.

@@brianedwards7133 It is logical that it is what most do in college, you take a good high school athlete you hope you can mold into a good college athlete. Boling I considered to have exceptional form for a high school athlete and physically mature to boot so I didn't see WHERE he could be improved. He developed a lot of technical skills early (while he was still in high school) so I don't see where he was going to improve. My understanding was he was trained as a 100-200 sprinter in high school and having split sub 45, if he was going to be a top tier athlete, I would have got him started running it first day of college, but that's me.

Matthew Boling peaked in High School. He never got on the right program to make it to the next level. You need people on the inside in Pro Track to do that. They simply don't want him in and it can't be done this day and age on natural ability alone.

All that's happened to him is he hasn't improved from high school which ther was no reason to think he would, won ONE NCAA indoors and at best gets selected for relays but never finishing in the top 3 at a national championship. He had GREAT form as a high schooler, what was there to improve?

If he had any chance of being a world class athlete was in the 400 in my view assuming his real talent isn't the long jump. Given is performance this year, I think we've seen his best.
