Giving arrma the opportunity to fix it, before making the problem puplic, earns a lot of respect imo. Nowadays everyone wants to make headlines, even its for the bad of other people. Everyone forgets about that there are actually humans, who assemble these cars, or construct it. Everyone can make a mistake, giving the one the opportunity to fix it, is a sign of humanity, which is sadly shown too rarely

More of a reason traxxas is a money hungry company. They knew the maxx preformed horrible in stock for yet released it at a crazy price then screwed their loyal customers with the widemaxx kit for 70$ that should of already been on their truck. It's crazy that arrma would treat a reviewer that way. The proper course of action would have been for them to pay to have the truck shipped in an expedited manner while at the same time cross shipping you a new one. It honestly sounds like they just slow rolled you while telling you not to tell people about it so they could wait until the initial hype died down. Which I guess was smart on their end because they've already sold a bunch of them before anyone was aware of the bending issues.
@AussieRCPlayground
4 жыл бұрын
That's a very cynical way of looking at it. Given how much they have supported me and how many cars I've received from them over the years, I had absolutely zero issues paying to send the car back to them. In fact, the plan was for them to reimburse me for the shipping costs (they offered), but since they had to pay to get the truck out of customs, I didn't even ask for the money after that. I don't think they "slow rolled me" at all. It was just all done in a rush, the trucks were already in the hands of distributors by the time this all happened and there simply was no other way of getting a new truck. Have to say, it's an interesting point of view you have, but a very negative one.
@DoRC
4 жыл бұрын
@@AussieRCPlayground I suppose I could be wrong and it was just incompetence (not keeping spare review samples in stock in case a reviewer has an issue would be an indication of that) but after many years of dealing with different companies in a few different industries and seeing how they usually react when something happens that could affect their bottom line I doubt it. Maybe I am cynical but that comes from experience. Even now what has arrma done to address the problem? I see no recall or information from them on the issue and what they are doing to take care of it. They said they figured out the problem. Ok. What was it? Was it a one off (based on other reviews and forums I don't think so) and if not what did they do to correct it before retail shipment? I'm guessing they didn't tell you because they were already aware and even if they weren't (again the incompetence option) there was nothing they could do about it before release. Arrma chassis bending is nothing new. They just don't seem interested in actually doing what needs to be done to fix the issue.

To my surprise, the mod 1 drivetrain has been flawless. The pinions are readily available here anyways. I agree 100% the truck is very undergeared out of the box 🤣. I too eventually bent my top brace and rear chassis. It was easy to repair, and didn't have another issue after bolstering the top brace with simple carbon fiber 14 x 12mm tubing. I also had no heat issues running with a 23T plus tuning my diffs and venting the tires, punch 5, 7.5 timing advance. I'm fairly certain ARRMA will make changes following this initial 8s release. The platform has loads of potential and handles amazing. 🍻👍👍😎💪👊👊

The only true weak spot I've found on this brand new release/design is the top brace which can be easily bolstered for 20$. Keep that in check and the chassis does much better. People will always be critical and complain. I'd rather improve upon a design and just bash 👊. ARRMA is fully aware of what to improve upon moving forward. Nice review. What I don’t like about most RC companies is their Top Speed Claims, 50mph - 70mph out of the box,lol You need to change to the Optional Pinion gear, & then it’s only good for on road speed runs keeping an eye on motor temps. Not to mention the (Hi Speed wheels & Tires) you need for that repetitive top end speed. No good for using off road, so it’s not a true top speed. The “out of the box” gearing is what the manufacturer consider safe, usually you can go 1 to 3 teeth larger on the pinion gear. Single speed motors need to be geared to there battery cell count & the environment you run in. Always slower then their claim, if you don’t want to cook you’re electrics.

Not that you've implied such in any way at all, but I wonder how much influence Horizonhobby had in the marketing and decisioning in bringing this car to the market. Officially ARRMA run themselves, but it makes me wonder what happens in closed door meetings. Neither ARRMA or HH would admit what is said in those meetings, and I'm not saying HH have pushed ARRMA, but I certainly wonder if ARRMA would have released this car prior to the partnership with HH. I don't think they would have. And if HH are pushing, that wouldn't surprise me at all. ARRMA have a reputation to uphold and that is more important than anything else when it comes to product releases. If they lose that, they lose everything IMHO.

Very well said Vas. I walked in my local hobby shop pre release and saw one of these in person and wanted it based clearly on its size and how much I love my kraton 6s. I was so excited to see your running video when you first released it and my thoughts were the exact same as yours. The car just didnt seem like your typical arrma vehicle. Any other arrma car you pull the trigger and it almost makes you laugh at how crazy fun it is. I could tell just from the video that this 8s kraton did not have that effect. I believe they will listen to the reviews especially yours with the great following that you have as well as the public and hopefully they will update the car accordingly. It's just very unfortunate for the fans who bought this with excitement of owning this beast to just honestly be let down. I do not own one nor have I drove one so my opinion doesn't really matter at all but from a rc enthusiast who Loves this brand I just find it very unfortunate and I hope that it will be resolved in some way in the future. Until then I cant wait to see what kind of evil electrics you slap in that thing. Take care and hope all is well across the pond!

Thanks for taking the time to put yourself out there with an honest overview. I agree with the general sentiment but even after spending the additional money to upgrade it I still really like it, mostly because the handling is so enjoyable for the terrain I live in. Even though I love it I'd only recommend for a dedicated mod path oriented hobbyist, not someone who wants a turn key rtr.

I'm sitting here with a v1 Talion, v1 Typhon and a v2 Senton. Yes, the v1's still have their little quirks, but for the price they are some of the best rc's around. Did any of you ever have a hard time keeping the pinion on the v1 Talion. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Anyways, since T.H. was sold you can't use coupons on Arrma anymore. Haven't bought an Arrma since. Just remember Vas if you start the review with your Kraton 8s receipt, NO ONE can say anything about the QC problems you bring up (or when you bring them up) Hopefully Arrma is already working on the v2. (not that I could ever afford one of these) also respect the honesty! We need more like you!

@@AussieRCPlayground Is it? You called it the worst Arrma and basically trashed it. I am a fan, Vas, but come on. If someone goes off of just your review, then his reaction is not extreme. Now if someone watches all of the other big name guys who've run the truck then I would say it was an extreme reaction since most would draw the conclusion that what happened to your truck was abnormal 😎👍👊

I got mine when they first came out. Had to wait for battery connectors because I wanted to keep it stock. Long story short I turn my radio on and went to turn the truck on and it wasn’t bound to the controller anymore. The controller was blinking red. Couldn’t get it to bind again. So it’s going back and lucky it was still with in the time. But watching this I’m kinda glad and won’t be getting a new one. I emailed arrma and of course got a reply back from HH and they treated me like I was an idiot and tried to say it’s normal for an rc to need rebound. I’m sorry I have a lot of RC and have been in the hobby for 15 years and can’t remember having any RCs come unbound. HH will be the down fall of all the good RC. Sorry just my opinion. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.

First, ty Vas for this honest opinion. I have a talion v6 and a senton v6. Both great cars. About this kraton, ARRMA must address the issue of the chassis and tower bending. They advertised this car as a top basher (tough) and its not. Its has a design problem. I would have preferred arrma charging 100us$ more but making an stronger chassis. Nobody should need to upgrade anything just to do normal bashing. Going M2C, etc, that’s another story for a different type of basher. Armma please be honest with the loyal fanbase and fix this car. Make a recall, idk but you must fix it. Ppl spent the money already and that is not fair. We should not wait till V2.0. Fix it now and keep up the great job you’ve been doing till this car.

Vas, As always... Love your honesty..and so do so many others in RC land... @13:04 Now that... is a huge thing... (I'd joke about it saying that you now have an 8S XMaxx but...) for a launch RC vehicle... that's really disappointing. Although being the only KZitemr that's stuck their head out and saying.. "hey wait... not so good" Absolutely respect this vid in every way. at least in a public forum you've spoken about whats actually happened. Solid. Going to apologise too, Vas.. thought you were of Macedonian Backround... sorry mate...
