I feel like "animated sitcom", "situational comedy", or even just non-serialized animation would all be more apt than "slice of life". Something like Clarence or We Bare Bears I'd reckon are slice of life shows, whereas stuff like Spongebob or Total Drama aren't. Hell, Total Drama has ongoing stories that span the length of a season or more, which kind of confuses the whole thesis of this video.

Actually, slice of life shows have garnered a resurgence in the 2020s. The ghost and Molly Mcgee, the Casagrande's, Hamster and Gretel, Haliey's on it, Bluey, Kiff, and the Proud Family have gained popularity.

Your definition is bizarre. Wouldn't Gumball one of the most popular shows CN ever made count against you here? Also, Teen Titans Go is very much a show with no overarching story and characters doing everyday things all the time. Total Drama also has a story throughout the season which further confuses what you're trying to say in this video. I think you need to check what "Slice of Life" means. Sitcom is a better term for the shows you are talking about and they have gone nowhere. CN's most popular shows non-story-oriented comedies that involve both everyday experiences and zany over the top humor.

I don't think this is true. A genre can see a dip and bounce back. Plot/Lore stuff tends to make a jump, get tiresome, and then slice of life comes back. This is partly why the Loud house became as popular as it did, everything back in 2016 was trying to ride the Gravity falls/Adventure time coattails and now we've seen the opposite, most likely the genre will bounce back after the next wave of lore spam is over with.

I think the decline of slice of life animation played a big part in the decline of animation in general.
