Sonic was a weird experience for me as a young fella, considering that i liked the franchise but i never got that invested into the characters or stories, neither i could've get the games but ever since i watched the Sonic movies, my love for the franchise grew through time (hearing the soundtracks, watching frontiers news, the artworks, the comics, etc) also, this franchise helped with my rough artblock that i had two years ago and i lately have a lot of energy thanks to Sonic. So, this franchise is pretty special to me.

Wholesome moment: when I was little my older brother would read the Archie Sonic comics as bedtime stories to me. Sonic has been a TREMENDOUS part of my childhood. Now that I heard about Kenders being creepy, it kinda torched the memory for me a bit, but I'll cherish it either way.

Aww, that's wholesome! That reminded me of my childhood where I read a lot of Donald Duck comics to my siblings when they didn't know how to read yet😊 I remember our favorite story was where Donald loves to make his favorite food to his nephews and they grew tired of it and challenge him to beat a master chef from their fav tv show with the risk that he's going to buy restaurant foods for the boys for a month (I think?)😂

After the success of Sonic Frontiers and seeing SEGA being good with money, I hope we get Sonic Adventure games + Heroes remastered with beautiful graphics similar to Frontiers for real this time. I would love to relive them especially because I miss playing as other characters. I have one opinion tho about the human designs if they could re-design them and make em look similar to puyo puyo characters that would be neat and they wouldn't look out of place because of realism.

I got into Sonic because of let's plays of the 2000s era. Not gonna go into all of it here obviously, but that little blue rat helped me deal with some very traumatic years when I was younger, so I'll always have a fondness for the series. I first discovered Sonic the Hedgehog as kid through Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and Sonic X. They are pretty much the reason I got into Sonic in the first place and since then I’ve watched gameplay of various Sonic games such as Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure, Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3, and many others. I also watched another of the Sonic cartoons, Sonic Underground, one summer and I absolutely fell in love with it! I’ve never gotten to play any of the Sonic games until Sonic Forces, which I had a ton of fun playing! Since I’ve gotten other games like Sonic Mania, Sonic Mania Plus, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors Ultimate, and Sonic Frontiers. Sonic the Hedgehog is absolutely of my favorite franchises and will forever be a part of my life.

I grew up watching the Sonic shows first and later got into the games and comics. I still remember getting up at 7am every Saturday to watch Sonic X coming on 4Kidz, and I loved the show so much. I remember getting so hyped up when a new seasonal section would come along like the Chaos, Shadow, and Meterex Sagas. And when I learned there were comics, I would go to Barnes and Noble to get a new one ever so often. I loved the Archie comics, even though they had their issues (pun intended), and I loved all of the other cartoons and comics made for the series. I remember loving to belt out the Sonic Underground theme song with my older brother, and I remember obsessing over Sonic and the Black Knight because it got me into King Arthur stuff and knights. I was lucky enough to get to meet Tracey Yardley on a few occasions when he went to my local Comicon and I got his autograph on a few of my comics. I was so excited when they announced the Sonic movie, and I cosplayed Sonic when I went to the theaters to see both of the movies. It made me really happy to see more and more people like Sonic and give the series more of a chance in recent years, and I hope that SEGA continues to, as Zebrahead would say, kick ass fast and put on a show.

I've been a Sonic fan for as long as I can remember. I remember that my family used to own Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Genesis. I remember my dad renting Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, and how I always wanted to play as Tails and Amy. I remember how excited I was when I got Sonic Heroes on my fifth birthday. I remember waking up every Saturday morning to watch Sonic X on 4Kids, and rewatching the episodes on the 4Kids website. I remember needing my older brother to beat some of the later races in Sonic Riders, because I was not very good back in the day. I have lots of fond memories associated with this series. Growing up with the internet was for sure an interesting experience as a Sonic fan. Especially as someone who prefers 3D Sonic over 2D Sonic, could never get into Sonic SatAM, and whose favorite character is Amy. It's amazing how much whiplash a person can experience in this franchise. I still distinctly remember hearing from many people on the internet how SA2 was widely considered to be one of the best Sonic games ever, and then like a year later it was considered horrible and overrated. It really is no joke to say that being a fan of this series is like being on a roller coaster that can jolt into any direction at the drop of a hat. Despite that, I've still remained a big fan. Even with all of the ups and downs, Sonic the Hedgehog continues to be a comfort series for me, even if there are some things that don't jive with me as well as others. I've never really been a fan of the 3D boost games, I vastly prefer the modern animated series like X and Prime over any of the classic ones, and I don't really like the Archie Comics much at all. Despite that, there's so much from this franchise that still brings me joy. Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders are some of my favorite video games of all time. The music from the games continues to be absolutely amazing. From stage themes like Studiopolis, Mystic Mansion, and Aquarium Park, to vocal tracks like Open Your Heart, What I'm Made Of, and Vandalize. Amy Rose has been, is, and will likely forever remain my #1 favorite character of all time. Where the series is going next will always be up in the air, as no one can predict what move this series will take next. However, Sonic the Hedgehog will forever hold a special place in my heart, and as long as he keeps moving forward with passion and a love for adventure, I'll continue to be by his side, waiting to see what comes next.

My introduction to Sonic was the old SatAM cartoons and the Archie comics, as the comics were still ongoing and the cartoons were doing their tenure on Netflix (this was back when Netflix was in its infancy) when me and my little brother were kids. To say we loved them is an understatement. And we got introduced to the games because of them. My brother was the one who threw himself headfirst into the games (we also bought the Genesis collection) while I dove deep into the comics, constantly checking out collection volumes at our local library when I got the chance, and watching Megabeatman reviews when I couldn’t get the latest issues. The comics also introduced me to Megaman, who’s Archie run is not only fantastic, but so much simpler than Sonic’s by a long shot. Two fandoms for the price of one! The cartoons and comics hold a special place in my heart. They had such an impact on me, and brought me so much joy no matter how messy it all got. I will always have a soft spot for them. Here’s hoping you’ll cover the original Megaman stuff someday, his history is certainly nothing to sneeze at as well 😅

I do wanna give a shoutout to you giving so much love to the Archie comics, it's a part of Sonic's history that Sega just shoved under the rug for a lot of reasons, but it deserves to be shown off, for better or worse. But I do wanna correct the record a little bit 19:30 this is a common misconception. Archie sued Ken, not the other way around because he was copyrighting the characters he made for the comics, which Archie said was a violation of his contract. Now, that comment opens up a giant rabbit hole that I cannot summarize in a youtube comment, but I did for a 2 hour long podcast about on my channel lol EDIT: Also he didn't win the lawsuit, it was mutually settled between Archie and Ken, details of which aren't known, but it does seem like Ken can use his some of the characters he created for Archie Sonic in a limited capacity.

in regards to the seedrians (the race created from sonic x), they haven't been forgotten about and actually are canon (or at least cosmo is?? unclear). cosmo is the little potted plant in tails' workshop as seen in one of the art pieces made for sonic channel :) the plant also makes an appearance in sonic chronicles in tails' workshop, but i hesitate to mention that game since iirc it was removed from canon due to the ken penders lawsuit sonic x was (at the time?) the idealized version of the lore for the series, and even after the """"reboot"""", the stuff sonic team chose to make canon is still canon. not to say that sonic x in its entirety is canon, just that some of the stuff that sonic team liked is (like cosmo, and most notably shadow's inhibitor rings which originated from sonic x). i'm assuming the reason nothing has been done with the seedrians in particular is because all of them are literally dead and cosmo was the last one LMAO

The redesign thing is real. The first movie never got any merch outside of books (and I think a Build-A-Bear plush) and that’s cause the merch they had (revealed via images of it that were posted online) was of the old design and because the new one was done ten months before release there wasn’t enough time to produce new merch with that redesign.
@CanaldoZenny

25:00 The redesign was real. And because of it they had to pull out all of the movie's toys and merchandise from the stores because they all featured the original ugly Sonic design. Very few toys were sold and they had the original design. Also, a number of in-production test screenings of the first movie leaked online years later and they all also featured the original ugly Sonic. They lost a lot of money reworking the design and reediting the movie - you can see in the final cut that the movie appears to be missing scenes and some don't mash well - and unsold merch.

I think Sonic X introduced me to the other characters & got me really invested. This was back in early middle school, I was one of those kids who made a lot of Sonic ocs. Also got really into roleplaying. My fav character was Shadow xD Not so much into it now, but I still like it. Actually Sonic oc rp was how I met my current online bf. I'm 21 now & we're still together! I owe Sonic for that x3 also actually having ocs helped me want to start drawing & writing too. Yeah, I was a huuuggge Sonic kid.

Renderware is probably the reason we don't have a Heroes remaster, it's kinda fucked from what I hear. In many ways.

Alright, the first time I read an Archie Sonic comic. I was pretty young, my mom had died and my sister had taken over raising me and my brother. She was a lot stricter about what kind of content I was allowed to engage with. She hated anime, comics, video-games and pretty much anything that wasn't cleaning my room or mowing the lawn. She would loosen up on that stuff as I got older but never really put away the "poke'mania" mindset. Despite not getting to read many comics growing up, I managed to get my hands on some and had already been hooked on DC and marvel due to the 90's TAS series and the DCAU. I actually learned how to read because Bionicle comics and light novels motivated me. I needed the lore. Because of all this, comics became a treasure which I had to save up for and search out. So when I saw a Sonic the Hedgehog comic at the mall and it was on for cheap I asked my sister if I could buy it. She didn't even flips through it like she did when I was excited for a manga (she was searching for boobs. I wasn't allowed to own anything with cleavage in it until I moved out). It's that dumb kid game about a blue rat, how bad could it be? I get home, go to my room, open the comic, and I am met with a human looking woman's shiny metal ass right up in my face. As far as I can remember, she was an AI Eggman made, which got out of control. I didn't really care at that point. I'm a little kid, sitting there VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, flipping through this comic wondering "why did they draw all these animals with tits?", learning who Bunny Rabbot was, and hoping my sister wasn't going to bust through my door and take a way the only new comic I'd gotten to read in a year. It didn't manage to turn me into a furry, but it did manage to scare the crap out of me. Anyway, I read it once, stuffed it in my comic box and never touched it again.

I recently started a new job at my local toy store and one of the best things to come from it is seeing current day kids wanting Sonic toys. It's not constant, but there's enough consistency that it makes me happy

My first introduction to Sonic was the Ultimate Flash Game, which I found out years later was a fangame. I played it probably when I was about 8, got stuck, and then didn't think about it for years. Then, I think I somehow found some of the Sonic the Werehog AMV's, and was really, really confused, but intrigued. I was really into Monster High at the time and the idea of a famous character having a canonical "monster" form really got me interested! I ended up going down a rabbithole that has led me to being an active member of the community for over half a decade. I remember actively designing my own Sonic OC's and dreaming up stories for them. I really got into reading fancomics by big creators in the community, such as Ghosts of the Future, which was written by Evan Stanley. That story has been so, so influential on me. It makes me want to make my own comics someday. A bit of a little tangent related to that, but my PFP is technically from that comic. Starting at a certain point, Evan had one of their friends, Okida, join in on helping. Okida would always have a funny joke or quip that they would leave in the description. One day, however, they provided a link to a stash image. The image was ripped from a frame from the comic, and it was edited to have Shadow donning a pair of Groucho Marx glasses. At the time the image went live, I thought it was the funniest thing ever, and set it as my PFP for everything. To this day, it has less than 2,000 views and only 27 downloads, with at least 5 of those downloads being from when I lost the image haha. One day, when I was browsing a Discord for another Sonic fancomic (The Murder of Me), I was really confused because I saw a message from myself in a channel I had never gone in before. Turns out, it was another person who had the same profile pic! I ended up reaching out to them, and we ended up sending edits of the photo back and forth. My friend jokingly called the chracter "Mr. Mustachio", and it kind of stuck. Together we built up an entire lore for this one silly image, and grew closer because of it. We ended up becoming best friends for years, and even started dating. And all because of a silly edited shitpost :)

I've been a fan of the Sonic series ever since I played Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. My dad wasn't interested in the game, so he passed me the controller to try instead. I'm not 100% sure if SA2 was my very first video game ever or if it was Tak and The Powers of Juju for the gameboy advance, but it was one of my first few games I've ever played. So thanks dad, for making me into a gamer lol. But that's how much Sonic means to me. I grew up with the series and made cringe OCs and art to pass the time as a kid.

i only played sonic adventures as a kid, and i still have it, i never played any other sonic games or knew about the franchise besides that game, mostly because i still have my 360 console, but your vid really helped me to understand more about it!

I've never played any of the games, but I love Sonic SatAm / The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog with all my heart. It is such a good kids show. Not to be confused by the other Sonic T.V. show also called the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

I love that now with Sonic Frontiers that we’re getting this franchise in the right direction with the gameplay, story and the writers giving the characters their actual traits instead of dramatizing it, I hope Sega doesn’t fucked it up

Hi “new” fan here👋 I lived under a rock so I didn’t know anything about Sonic until movie 2. I just so happened to notice ‘Shadow The Hedgehog’ while I was searching something up, found a wiki page, and couldn’t get my nose out of it. I spent the rest of 2022 hyper fixated on this talking blue rat and learning his history so now I have people calling me “Sonic nerd” and I don’t mind because I am. The IDW comics really helped me get into the franchise too. I was able to read the entire metal virus saga and I loved it. Really glad I came into the franchise during the “year of the Sonic fan” and could buy and enjoy Frontiers. But We’re only at the beginning of this one way dream.

Sonic the Hedgehog came out when I was 3 years old and I've loved him since. I obviously grew up with the 2D stuff, but whilst Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my favourite Sonic game, Sonic Adventure 2 is my 2nd fav Sonic game. The 3D years were formitive in my teen years so I'm not a 2D vs 3D type of fan, I love all the eras. And I'm super excited so see where the franchise goes from here. This comics however have been my one blind spot, I really need to pick up the IDW comics cos i keep seeing panels shared on twitter and it looks interesting.
