I know Cody, personally. He's a very good guy, but in the last couple of years, particularly this past year, he has had a lot of very personal things going on in life. We content creators have personal lives as well, and sometimes our personal lives, families, and jobs require our attention. I have no idea whether or not Cody will return or not, but I know he's very busy with his new career and taking care of his family. So, the answer to your question is life.

Hey Delver. Wow. What a weird experience. I cannot talk about it. I am 99% sure almost everyone will feel bad if everything was able to come out. But also, I am personally great. It's been a tough road, but staying the course is the only and best path forward. Don't pity me. I am a happy man, and hopefully in SOME time, there will no longer be mysteries. If, I could just tell people what has happened, I would. But, I can't. And most people will think, "but SURELY its been long enough to surpass any NDAs or maybe something similar..." but sadly, I am still 'in it' as of 7/21/24. Cheers mate! And may your games be filled with awesome memories and even better friends!

@@great-roleplaying-debbie I disagree with you a bit. Right now I only play Pathfinder 2 and have for quite a few years. His critiques of the system are valid. This is not to say they can't be addressed, but they are valid. Most encounters if I go with the default is this. Ranger - Mark Prey, the setup for twin strike. Paladin - Move, strike, raise shield. Wizard - move - cast control spell or electric arch. Cleric - cast lance and move or heal someone. Alchemist - make and throw a bomb that will miss. Now notice I said default encounters. I do my best to mix things up and I also give more monsters the ability to have reactions. I then gave the party a free archetype and some of them have pets now. This added more complex options and my group loves it. Then I buffed their other combat abilities as best I could along with changing monsters to force some different combat. I don't abuse this though, and as Cody said, he was playing Age of Ashes campaign and so am I. The combat is pretty straight forward in this module, with rules as written. Granted I am breaking away from it now. Now I play with one guy who is trained in military combat and is also a historian, so his mind is wired to almost always gain an advantage. The dude never played Pathfinder before and after like 2 combat encounters knew exactly how to maximize the parties advantage. Another knows the rules well, and while not a rules lawyer will suggest optimal play. Everyone loves combat and role playing is not loved so much. So perhaps I see the "best line" more than most guys. Because of this I go out of my way to try and give far more options in combat. To say that Cody was wrong though is just not true. To say that it can't be addressed is another matter.
@paulunderhill550

@SteveMichael I don't think it just applies to PF2e. In most trrpgs, there is always the optimal move. The issue is his players never thought outside the box to add flavor to the encounters. They were basically robots, programmed to do the same thing over and over without regards to adding any flavor to the encounters.
@IngenieurStudios
9 ай бұрын
@@paulunderhill550 No, it's not that. It's just that he was using the Ranger as his example, which is *the* most repetitive and action economy optimized class in the game. Because it is a single target damage focused class. But just because it is, doesn't mean it's representative of the whole of the game. Also though, and I admit this could just be hearsay, I recall something about him trying to start some kind of actual play show with Roll20 and they didn't want him and he tried to claim it was racism against him and his cast because they weren't minorities (i.e. because they were white)? Again though, I don't have a specific source to link right now so you can totally claim this as hearsay.

Part of me expects it to be a combination of real life stuff and that the constant WotC scandals put him in kind of an awkward spot. Pure conjecture but if he's not comfortable making WotC content anymore he kinda burned the PF2e bridge with two really vitriolic videos on it that have been oft debunked and even some of the players in that game he references in those videos say he was kinda full of it and to blame for many of the issues he cited. He's basically Voldemort in the 2e community. I mean, where do you go from there?

I know Cody's personality was very big and maybe a little fiery for some people, who would take things as personal or combative. Can't necessarily blame them. But he was a cool guy and I feel bad for what he has been going through. I don't necessarily expect he will come back, as KZitem is a cruel master anyway, but maybe he is still enjoying his hobby and helping people in other ways, other places.

Why aren't you on Twitter?

I used to use Twitter for news and fandom updates, but I started to getting a lot of concerning recommendations. I ended up deleting my Twitter and moving to more traditional outlets. Plus, I wanted to limit my overall presence on social media platforms. Aside from this channel, I'm becoming a more private guy as I get older and having a Twitter - even private - just isn't something I'm looking for nowadays.

There was another D&D guy that I used to watch that disappeared. I think he got canceled. Anyone remember him?

Maybe Cody figured out that KZitem is a huge time suck and the juice isn’t worth the the squeeze to spend (waste) hours of your life talking into a camera about inane subjects- maybe Cody grew up

Nice detective work, I had been wondering what happened to him. Not my favorite guy on the topic, I generally preferred the thoughts of Guy Schlander and Matt Colville to his channel. But I didn't think he was a bad guy, I liked his games with Guy and Unmade Gaming. Curious that he has a date for when he'll get back to making videos. I'm hoping it's not WotC-related (as you are screwing yourself if you still work with them after 2023) but I admit those theories make the most sense so far. Guess we'll see in about four months. The comment section has been educational as well. Particularly when it comes to who remembers that we're all nerds here and who's a Paizo fan brat that needs to get off Twitter and go touch some grass. "He had a terrible take on Pathfinder 2nd Edition and that harmed its growth." Sorry, Paizo and the Pathfinder community are their own worst enemies. THEY killed the adoption of the new edition, not some schmuck with a KZitem channel. I dealt with the Starfinder community for most of the first edition's life cycle. And I am done, DONE with Paizo. I have never met a more toxic community bent on stifling creative discussion and I have never met developers more bent on killing their own game. I've since found a couple other systems that work just as well if not better with less toxic communities and I started making my own game system and space opera universe as well. Because if you want something done right...

The (vocal) PF playerbase writ large are engaged in eternal console wars while willfully oblivious to the merits of the system overwhelmingly preferred by the overwhelming majority for valid reasons. Basically the same as Linux stans. PF is far less accessible and universal or a system than 5e and it has nowhere near the mainstream name recognition that its larger competitors have. It comes with other issues as well. Unsurprisingly, fewer people play it.
