Vernee Watson appeared with John Travolta in "The Boy In The Plastic Bubble." She played Vernajean Williams, Freddy's girlfriend in 13 episodes of "Welcome Back, Kotter." After leaving the show, she got the role of Lucille Banks on "Carter Country" and appeared in that for the full 44 episode series. She's also known for her characters Vy Smith ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"), Stella Henry ("General Hospital") and Gloria from "Bob Hearts Abishola." The lady's still steadily working to this day.

I read somewhere that Marcia Strassman and Gabe Kaplan really didn't get along at all when the show was on the air but that Gabe visited her prior to her passing and they put it all behind them. I liked the show. It had some great lines, a lot of which were provided by Kaplan who was a stand-up comedian prior to taking on the role. I liked the campaign slogan Epstein came up with when Vinnie was running for class president: "Vote for Vinnie, and Nobody Gets Hurt." And Horshack explaining that his family name meant "The cattle are dying." It was a cool show. Not the greatest, but good enough. And it had a great opening tune written by John Sebastian. The way Epstein would sign the notes from home: "Epstein's Mother." Like I say, funny stuff.

I read somewhere that the producer was the one that caused the conflict between Kaplan and Strassman telling each that the other hated them and it was not true. Wonder what kind of individual intentionally does this just to screw with people? I thought Strassman was a hottie on the show, much like Jan Smithers was for WKRP.

Ironic how those that died were all in their 60s. Cancer has also killed so many beloved celebrities. John Travolta has had cancer, especially breast cancer, take away so many important women from him. His girlfriend Diana Highland, who played the mother on Eight is Enough died of breast cancer as did his friends Olivia Newton John, Allie Christie, as well as his wife Kelly Preston.

Juan Epstein was my favorite sweathog basically because of his notes from "Epstein's Mother". He didn't get how to properly forge a note from mom. My sloppy writing always got me busted. Mom had penmanship down. I never learned to even draw a good stick man, let alone write pretty.

My dad hated the show he didn't want to be watching it because he thought it would make me act like a hoodlum in school. Until I explained to him the show is not about the kids it's about the teacher. The show was called welcome back Mr. Kotter. Not welcome back Horsehack or Vinnie Bobbarino. That it was about the teacher who was once a student in the school who graduated went to college got a degree. He could have went anywhere in the world too work as a teacher. But he came back to his old school to help the underprivileged kids in the inner city that no one else cared about. And after that he was okay with me watching it even though he still didn't find that sort of humor funny.
