Wow, everyone should realize that the village people are just as popular now as back then because YMCA is played at every New York Yankee home game. Disco will never die because now it’s basically called techno basically the same thing. Dua Lipa and Lizzo, Kylie, Minogue David Guetta, Calvin Harris they would be considered disco back in the day. And by the way, everyone should realize that the lead singer of the village people, Victor Welles he definitely was not gay. He was married to a gorgeous actress or model. I believe he just had a drug problem.. of course, he was the voice behind the music.

Ik this comment was a few months ago but being in a heterosexual relationship doesn't mean anything. I was married to my kids father for years before he came out as homosexual! I'm not saying Victor was but.... However, he was married to Phylicia Rashad a few years (the mom from the Cosby show)

I was a teen during their reign over disco I had a super mad crush on Phillipé Rose. I went to one of their concerts and after the show some girl and I went out back and saw the limos pulling up and she jumped on David Hodo and kissed him 🤣🤣🤣♥️♥️ and then we went around to the next limos other side and I opened the back door and she pushed me down into the floorboard of the seat and as I looked up Phillipé was sitting down and he reached down and tapped his lips to mine and some damn rent-a-cop grabbed a handful of my hair and jerked me out of the car. If that jerk had left me alone I would have just floated out!!🤣🤣🤣♥️♥️♥️.

One of my favorite groups of all time. I still remember in Middle School, while wearing a Village People T-shirt, someone comes up and says, "You know they're gay right?" I thought about it, shrugged, and continued being a fan. I still don't get the whole BS, I mean, like the dude in Rock Star says, "I don't give a crap who yer shaggin' mate, just do your job." And man, the Village People were great.

The Village People were before my time by the time I really got into music the summer of 96 just b4 freshman year. But it was 60-70's. Queen, Zeppelin, Floyd & so on. Found a village people record at a thrift sore and one of those fisher price record players that played real records. Lol. The part on Wayne's World two was funny af lol and i don't think there's anyone that can deny feeling an overwhelming urge to act it out during the chorus. Also they cant deny that they have a fave village person. Everyone who has any knowledge of who the village people are has a fav one lol. Mines was always the cop.

Mr. Willis is just gaslighting. While he may be straight (he was married to Phylicia Rashad at the start of the VP), you can't tell me he didn't include double entendres and references to the gay community either voluntarily or at Morali's request. Story goes he was actually fired by Morali and Belolo after the Go West album allegedly for his increasing drug usage, so when he got the rights back in 2017, he took out revenge on the original members and assorted collaborators. While the originals also did the "nostalgia circuits," his current version is a bigger joke than the original concept ever was. And by all accounts, under all the success, it was a joke, albeit definitely not a mean-spirited one. If you didn't get the joke, you still enjoyed the performances. If you did get it, even better...
