I like how foreigners refer to our breakfast as “standard breakfast”.

As a student in the UK I met a few Poles (and perhaps these were just the ones I knew) but I was struck by how similar in temperament they were to older Singaporeans… in the sense that they were culturally, politically, and ethically quite conservative. Based. As they say these days. Not like liberally minded western Euros. I liked that!

I'm personally starting to feel bored of the video format of foreigners praising Singapore, and pandering to us local via this feel-good youtube model. It will be nice if we can have foreigners that share the negative sides/criticism of living here. There were glimpses of it in previous videos, but never in details. I personally think that your channel is fully capable of offering high value opinions and Singaporeans will be mature / respect what is discussed. You have established yourself to be someone "on the side of Singaporeans", and i really doubt that there will be much flame or negativity over this video, if that's the primary concern.

Respectfully, I disagree. Max's channel is focused on spreading positivity and good vibes -- I've watched his interviews with foreigners in Malaysia, India, and the Philippines as well, and I very much enjoyed hearing about the positive aspects of living in those countries too. These countries, along with Singapore, generally have so much bad press internationally that I think Max's channel provides a much needed balance. In Singapore's case, it's not uncommon to come across comments on the Internet calling it a dictatorship; describing it as a sterile place with no fun or innovation; exaggerating the severity of its laws (e.g. "You get caned if you chew gum!"); etc. There is enough negativity and criticisms of Singapore out there, and Max's channel is about providing a counterweight to that kind of commentary. From a business perspective, I think it makes sense for Max to distinguish himself and his brand by focusing on the positive features of different (and often misunderstood) countries too. P.S. I'm not from any of these countries. I'm merely a curious observer.

@@Wolfgang-k1o Let me clarify on my stance. I'm not saying that Max's channel being focused on spreading positivity and good vibes is bad at all. It is a legit youtube model for foreigners to talk about how much they love a specific country to drawn in viewers from that country. An extreme example is a Caucasian who grew VERY popular in China by saying how he's white on the outside, but Chinese in the inside (earning millions by the way). These videos are marketed towards the locals (in this case Singaporeans), rather than countries that have negative views on that country (e.g, westerners who think our country is ruled by a dictator and everyone gets canned). Trust me that these videos do little to correct negative perception of our country because the youtube algorithm do not push these videos to the westerners that have the incorrect views of our country. What *sets Max's video apart* though, is that the content is much more intellectual. We have foreigners living/naturalized here that share deeper insights of the country. And this is frankly gold compared to mindless clips done by other content creators using the same feel-good-for-locals model. What I'm trying to suggest here, is for Max to take it a step further. Talking about the negative sides of Singapore does NOT mean that the video must be on a negative note at all. In fact, it will be much more educational, and could serve as a point of reflection for us all. And I'm confident that Max channel now has the right reputation, resources and intellectual planning capability to pull it off. Let's face it, after watching perhaps 5-6 videos of Max on Singapore, people are more or less talking about the same things. Perhaps people love to hear others praising their own country over and over again like a repetitive bot, but just not me.

Walking by the river is always preferable to swimming in the river. If that is too profound for you try walking in the rain sometimes.

There are already interesting "negative sides", e.g., in the last minute of this video. (but phrased humorously by the guest)
