I was from the 60/70. They were good times for music. I listened to my parents lps. Doris day, Al Martino, and my favorite out of everything they had was Perry Como. I wasn't a favorite for the later songs led Zeppelin so fore, I did like the eagle's. My children and granddaughters 11 and 4 they sing them. How strange as for a while these songs from the 60 came back at one point. My daughter-in-law and son-in-law was shocked when they heard my children new the words. Lovely times. Only thing I didn't like it when the TV stopped at 10 o'clock. Don't think your old enough to remember those days. 😂😂

I asked my wife if she sent to the USA for a photo of Elvis and she told me this amazing story...when she was young she dated an American boy who had worked as Elvis's stand in. Elvis had given him a tiger's claw set in gold that was the pair to one Elvis was wearing. The young man had given it to her and she showed it to me. When we went to the Elvis museum in Las Vegas there was the matching claw on display!! 😲 .

When my son and his wife were moving into their new home several years ago he found an old lunch pail he had put away. As a joke his wife googled the picture and information about this particular lunch pail. Oh my goodness, it was worth several thousands of dollars. I said he should share his bounty with me since I purchased the lunch pail originally. I think it was a Lone Ranger or someone similar. They were thrilled with their find. I’m serious… It was quite the surprise. You never know what you’ll find when you start looking into things you put away not knowing what treasures you have.

Oh my goodness, Neil…. I’d completely forgotten!!! I remember sending a request to a studio for a signed picture of a movie star. I’m not sure who the star was, but my mother said I’d probably not get a response. I know she felt terrible about it but she was just trying to soften the blow of rejection. I must have been about 7/8 years old. But I did get the signed picture. Oh I was so proud. That picture meant the world to me. Now all I need to do is go online and I can print off any photo of anyone. Oh my, what a memory. Thank you for reminding me of this.

I bought a lot of movie magazines when I was a child and a teenager but most of them are now gone. The ones I do still have are the collectables that came out to accompany British historical dramas, The Onedin Line, The Pallisers, Jennie, Lillie among others. I got my first book of classic movie stars for Christmas when I was 10 and now I have so many if I stacked them on the floor the pile would be taller than I am. I still come across one occasionally on Amazon that I can’t resist and end up buying. My feelings are that the classic Hollywood movies ended in about 1959. They had a different style and atmosphere once the 60s came along.

I never bought magazines with the exception of a couple of memorial issues printed after a star's death! Because you've been an entertainment reporter, I'm sure you know who Ted Turner is. When I was growing up the first t.v. connection Turner had was the purchase of a VHF channel in Atlanta. When ever they showed movies he was the host. Then a few years later he purchased the baseball team, and exclusively showed the games on channel 17. Shortly thereafter he purchased the MGM film library, giving him control of many fabulous films. That inspired the founding of Turner Classic Movies, and with that expansion he had Robert Osborne to host his films. Now they have a team of five hosts. That is my go to channel for entertainment! Only 2 weeks ago they showcased Gone With The Wind, and although I've seen many times before, I watched again! Those are the movies that have characters, the stories have plots, and every other word doesn't start with F. Classic Films are the most entertaining movies, and I very seldom waste my time watching anything else! Big wave and smile!❤🌞🇺🇸

I missed out on magazines etc when I was young because my father was in the RAF and we lived in Kenya and Cyprus. Great fun but UK and American magazines and comics were rare for us. We used to get Mad Magazine in Cyprus which was fun. Some humour is universal. In a way I am glad. There is a temptation to keep everything in case it becomes valuable one day. Then you end up on one of those TV programs about hoarders who's house is full of rubbish that might be valuable one day... 😂
