Sorry for your losses. But for those that do not understand or realize that the larger number of species you have the more deaths you have. Not because Kat is doing anything wrong it's just how it goes. And keeping any animal as a pet can be fun and interesting the downside is that one day they will pass because none of them live as long as we do. Thank you Kat for all the contributions you make to the Hobby.

Aww thanks. Yeah I’m sure someone somewhere will say something like that, but I’m confident my 20-something yr old H chilensis or mature A avic wouldn’t have somehow exceeded their lifespans under different conditions/care 😅 as for the trapdoor, idk!

My Rose hair is gorgeous and just as I found someone with a male she decides to show signs of dying from old age. Its literally been a year and a half since I said "I think she's going to molt soon" and decided to wait. She hasn't molted but she's is getting bald, lost a back foot (she loves to dig hides), and doesn't put down her web.. she's still eating but I have her enclosure half covered to help with security feelings and I am keeping the enclosure at good molting conditions just in case. I got her as a barely sub adult. She was my first before I knew about the tarantula pet trade at all. I've had her for a decade so she's probably about 15 to 20? She's a good girl. Very intentional and let's you handle her to show off. Doesn't kick hairs even.

Today's video was just fine, in fact it was great. With everything in "life" there is good and not so good.... The reality is that any of us that have pets or keep any critters as a hobby will experience a loss or losses at times and it's hard. It's always nice to know that others go through the same thing, see how they handled it and maybe even get ideas on how we can do something different that would help in our time of loss and dealing with it. This video wasn't just about loss either, I hope you can eventually mate Pikachu again and have success, she's beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us 😊🕷️❤️

All my sympathy - this year has been a punch in the face for you. (Also, making specimens from your spiders is not any different than collecting a cat's shed whiskers or reptiles shed skins or making a memorial nose print for a mammalian pet. Or keeping a molted feather jar for pet birds.) Sometimes it's nice to have something *of the pet*, and if you don't have their babies ... Preservation is a solid second best.

Just lost my 10 inch Goliath Birdeater, I kept her in a jar of alcohol. Happened about 2 weeks ago, she ate a lot and I kept her cage very humid and I only had her for about 2 years, she had 3 molts in those 2 years, just randomly she became sluggish and started going into a death curl so I made her an icu and put her in my bathroom with the shower running and i had her upside down and fed her water with a little bottle, i kept her in the icu and she started moving again and almost became normal again, then she went back into death curl and died pretty fast.
