Aww you actually got me... I watch nearly all your animal videos and more even when I already know alot about the subject and likey won't learn anything new. But I am bad for not pressing like or dislike on videos. Kinda made me feel bad cause I do know that the likes, watch time and comments all contribute to the amount that you might get paid by ads or offered by sponsors. Your information is pretty basic but still informative and I like that it doesn't seem like a huge content farm or a top ten countdown video. It's not amazing quality or whatever else but great for a quick simple overview lesson about the topic. Only problem I have is the constant focus on similar topics in a row until somthing new but also fully understand that you and/or the team puts in alot of time looking into a subject matter and it absolutely makes since to go ahead and film as much about that as possible while it's still fresh in your mind and information and facts directly infront of you to write your script or Whatever else. Most would do that expesally when they are going for shorter videos like this instead of say a full hour video focusing on orcas or whatever. And of course shorter videos make since when talking about subjects you tend to talk about because most people don't really care to learn too much at once about one topic nowadays and only people who already love the topic really cares about watching extremely long videos on the subject but since they already really liked the subject they probably already have looked into or otherwise learned about the basic facts on the matter. I can see your videos being the thing that sparks interest in a subject tho and then they can go on to learn more about it later.

11:41 If they're so worried about pilots steering into the grass, why not just surround the entire runway with EMAS blocks? After all, there are always going to be instances where a plane is essentially pushed off the runway, by the wind. The obvious answer likely comes down to cost.

There used to be a gas station across the street from the centreline of runway 5 at Toronto Pearson (CYYZ). Pilots who think it's still there could be forgiven for choosing the grass on a bad day.

Not the runway, but the overrun. If the pilot lands long or hot, the overrun is there to catch the plane. And the EMAS is installed in the overrun to stop the plane once it's been caught.

@MrCaiobrz

Yes it is possible to forget about EMAS. You just told why. It is not widespread used and in an emergency you are trained to veer into the grass, you need to be ridiculously calm and composed to remember the details of the airport and that yes, it does have EMAS. When it is more widespread enough that you are being trained to stay on the runway whatever happens, then they will follow their training, not the "exception".

for trucks, it's not all it's cracked up to be. A "run" will cost the driver/owner about $7500 for "use" and they simply rake out the ground as well as tow the truck out of the gravel field. Most drivers (especially owner operators) would rather crash against a guard rail than use a runaway ramp.
@jasonkrohn5416
28 күн бұрын
They are probably told to avoid the EMAS if possible. I would say it’s safe to say that that stuff cost more to replace than dirt and some grass. Don’t think for one moment that these companies care more about human life than their bottom line and the only reason why they have the safety stuff is because they’re required to buy the federal law and because accidents affect their bottom line.

Hell, while we're at it, let's just replace the entire runway with EMAS Blocks. This way, every plane will be landing on a cushion, that absorbs the energy, thereby allowing the plane to decelerate from 150 MPH to 0 MPH, in just a few feet. 😉
