Our brain often overreacts and activates fight-or-flight when there is no real emergency and is instead reacting to normal worry and stress. What makes this worse is when we misinterpret the bodily symptoms as dangerous thereby increasing and prolonging out time in fight-or-flight. This can also result in neuro connections associating certain bodily sensations with anxiety, setting us up for panic disorder, a condition where our own internal bodily sensations trigger panic. It is therefore important to understand the actual body mechanics behind each type of bodily sensation during high anxiety and panic episodes.
