Actually Bugatti and Koenigsegg don’t make their tires. They use Michelin Pilot Sport PAX, which are literally glued to the wheel. This is spinning freely in the air with no load. Bugatti and Koenigsegg are moving at crazy speeds on the ground tire touching the pavement.

Well stated. It's always funny til someone gets hurt... The supposedly humorous continuation is ... and then it's hilarious. Don’t remember exactly when but I’m thinking late 70s to early 80s F1 cars had portholes so you could see the front tires and I believe there was a line on the inside of the tire. The purpose of the portholes was to keep check on how much the tires grew as speed increases because they would be going so fast that the tires would pretty much come off the rim and when they looked at the tires after and the marks wouldn’t be lined up with where they were when mounted on the rim. The tires were slightly spinning on the rims, so the portholes were added so you can tell that you either can go faster or you need to stay where you are. Awesome video as always. Just remembered exactly what the portholes were on. The Elf car that had 4 front tires. They were so small in diameter they were spinning at an incredible rate and since they had 4 front tires it was still drivable.

Now imagine Lada going over 400 kph on Autobahn... I need to see it someday! Also I'm more amazed by the differential surviving this shit than the tires... Oil pressure, temperature, centrifugal and hydraulic forces and burden on gears must heve been tremendous at those rotational speeds!

I believe your jack stands were sinking into the ground with the vibration, you may wish to use stands with a large metal plate on the base to increase the surface area and (hopefully) reduce the sinkage

Please be careful. My dad used to work at dunlop and has told me stories of the test area (test to destruction) and he said that it was several floors down for safety and when the tyres blow that they were still loud in the machine shops with the machines running. Build a cage around it with lots of catch layers.

I was watching with my chin on the ground - This looked terrifyingly dangerous. I just made a comment saying a kilo of steel and rubber hitting you in the face at 600 km/h is instant death. At least it would be quick. Energy 1/2 m V^2. 500 Joules from a .45 calibre bullet...This is 30,000 Joules for that kilo of rubber. Straight through the car door....Oops my math..15,000 joules or so. Make it a 2 kilo lump of rubber for above figure!

I don't think you've watched much of this channel. It's only slightly south of the folks who pull death defying stunts and sometimes don't live to tell about it...but at least there's video...Darwin award winners, surely, or at least nominees. It could most assuredly happen here, but I sincerely hope it does not, this channel is a riot. It's not like these guys aren't fully aware of that. :-)

Bugatti: Needs months of collaborating with Michelin in order to engineer a special type of super tyre that can go 510KMH safely. Russians: Use a 40 year old Lada to spin an offroad tyre at 620KMH in their backyard.

Never would have expected the tire come off the rim at that speed but it does make sense when you think of how much centrifugal force is pulling at the treads on the tire so that pulls the sidewalls in with such force

I probably wouldn't make much difference. They are not rated for expansion, they are rated for continuous heat buildup to incur an acceptable rate of failure, which is a far lower rotation rate.

@@MrJdsenior you know I didn't even think about that with them testing those tires like that there's no Force on the tire like the weight of a vehicle on it so it's pretty much just free spooling.

To increase speed further, connect another axle at right angles (connect 2nd axle driveshaft to diff you just drove the wheel from) and then drive off the diff on the second axle - That would be huge. Dig a deeper hole to accommodate the expanding tyre diameter. Then view from a considerable distance (or close by if still wearing the safety bobble hat)
