The same in North East Texas where I grew up the wild hogs started getting bad in the 50's buy 1980 they were a big problem for farmers. Now it's so bad some people I know that still live in the area don't let their children play outside near the treeline and all pets are kept inside at night. They are causing billions in property damage and loss of crops and livestock.

I used to Hunt wild boar in California. I have seen huge Razorback boars at 4' tall at the shoulders. They are incredibly smart and very fast. It didn't snow where we hunted, but it would rain alot and get very cold, just above freezing. They are also not affraid of us. We have had them attack us. Thank God we had trees and boulders to climb up to safety. We hunted on BLM lands. Some feral hogs, mixed breeds, and what appeared to be pure Razorback hogs. It was amazing how quickly they could rootup an area. They are also very tough. Their eyesight isn't great, but their hearing and sense of smell are outstanding. We had alot of fun and memorable hunting trips. It was rugged country there. Very little flat level lands. Mountains and canyons. Lots of brush and Oak trees. Lots of cover. I would love to go do it again, but I think that I'm getting to old to do it like I used to.

Most wild hogs where I live in WNC have some Eurasian boar DNA which is different from domestic pigs. That’s because back in the 1700’s Eurasian boars were released here in the mountains for hunting purposes. But domestic pigs will morph to their environment in the wild. Their heads and snouts will become like shovels. Most our wild hogs here retain a lot of Eurasian features. They’re smaller and a little taller than a domestic pigs and usually solid black. Locals call them Russian hogs or just Russians.

In Straila we have had the feral pig since 1788,thats 236yrs and super pigs. We call em Razorback's, came not long after. You used a scene from an Australian movie called Razorback from 1984. In1998 in Far North Queensland, late at night, I was nearly run into by one while driving a Nissan Navara 2wd ute with a 4wd type bull bar. The road was very corrugated, bumpy, so I was only able to do 30kph max I was idling along at about 20kph. Then I could hear something big moving through the thick scrub about 30 or 40 metres away and I thought it was a cow. I couldn't see anything out of my headlight beam. Then I could tell by sound it was moving towards me, then I could tell it was moving very quickly towards me, just as I am thinking cows don't usually charge towards you. I could tell by my Sasquatch super power of triangulation I deduced that whatever was running full speed towards me at all current velocities it was gunna hit my driver's door. Oh Yay! So after many years of watch Alfie Langer and his phenomenal big footie player avoidance technique I decided to employ the old keep going at the same speed then brake at the last second play. So of course I pulled it off perfectly, I had a great Sensei, and out of the scrub less than a foot from the front of my cay burst the biggest pig I have ever seen even in photos of big pigs! I was allmost the size of the hero from Razorback! It was 2feet taller than the bull bar and allmost the same either side of the car so around 5foot tall by 8.5+ foot long. It had the headlights exact sized beam on it's side as it speed past. If I didn't channel Alfie at pull that move off I have no doubt it would of dented my door enough to possibly cause injury and possibly even roll my Ute over, it's a pretty light Ute. So that's Razorback/Superpig tale.

Ya...this dude chattin this story up is full of hog pittootie. The "super pigs", and yes they do exist (my neighbours killed one that was chasin them around their half ton a few years back and they're the size of a mini horse) but...we called them wild pigs not super pigs, cause they weren't necessarily wild boar and they weren't feral domestic pigs either, and they weren't created on purpose that I have ever been aware of and I've been a part of the ag industry here for more than 5 decades. I could be wrong in that regard cause everyone can't know everything. I am however aware that the wild boar from the southern US were brought here to create a cottage industry of pastured wild boar (I had even thought about doing it) - it was supposed to be a high $$$ return on ones investment. Some of the producers were not aware of the proper fencing required and or simply didn't actually have the money to properly invest and some wild boar escaped and bred with feral domestic pigs.

My brother in-law has a mounted Hog with pictures to prove. The Hog was 1500lbs dressed out. Turned out he was trying to set a record and had it pinned up somewhere on our Land. He gutted it because they would see it had been Corn Fed when checking. So No record But A Big F/N Mount.

I could see a use for these to give polar bears a meal. Or Grizzly bears a meal, the Pig is not an apex predtor, the apex predtors canbtake advantage of the fresh meat supply. Other smaller pretors would be in danger like badgers woularinez and wolf's
