Same, especially after listening to a lot of spiritual Hip Hop over the last decade. These artists' have spiritual themes in their music, but they don't live that kind of life and they don't truly know the depth of it. For the most part, it's their perspective mixed with the vanity, money, sex, and fame. You see Kendrick wearing a crown of thorns, and it's supposed to be symbolic, yet you hear spiritual topics mixed with boasting and egoism. Doesn't really appeal to me like it did when I was younger. I'm 32. There's a great sea of music out there, including Hip Hop.

Authentic artist talk about real things that they have either experienced, seen or heard about. That is what makes their music stand the test of times. This is true of all genres of music. I gotta disagree with the assertion that Nas only talks crap. Method Man discussed this on Math Hoffa's show. He said Mel was even bitter towards him when he saw him on the street. He can have his issues with the writer who created the list but there's no need to take shots at the legends who put in work to be at the top. Nas and Jay are still dropping music that gets the hip hop community buzzing everytime. Nas is a recent grammy winner. Can Mel drop any music today that appeals to the older and current generation??? I see your perspective. What I took from his comment was the messages in hip hop are destructive and the listeners taking the messages at face value. If you listen to ANY message over, and over, and over again, the repetitiveness can alter your ideas and perspectives. Music is no different. Hip hop is just talking over a beat, and for that 3 or so minutes, the rapper is sharing an idea or message. Listening to that same message repeatedly can cause changes in ideas and how we view our world. That's literally the basis of education, repeated exposure to ideas and concepts should cause the brain to retain the information for later use and application. Mel is just saying that these rappers have been sharing ALOT of destructive messages and we've been eating it up, for years. With a daily dose of those messages it is no surprise that we treat our community so negatively.

TUPAC IS THE GOAT AND CHANGED HIP-HOP... AND HAD A TRUE MESSAGE AND NY HATED ON HIM BECAUSE HE WAS THE GOAT LIVING.... SO TUPAC STOOD HIS GROUND AND DIED BEHIND PEOPLE HATING ON HIM... PAC WASNT TRYING TO BEEF WITH FOLKS THEY ATTACKED HIM.... PAC MUSIC CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE GOOD... OG MUST AINT HEARD TUPAC BUT HE DIDNT MENTION TUPAC EITHER HE DID THAT FOR A REASON I THINK HE KNOW...

He said Pac and Method Man were better actors then rappers if that counts... But not really a diss though being Pac was a great actor IMO. He also says in a video if you look it up before Pac died he was trying to help Melle get a deal so I am guessing they are cool. The video is on youtube if you look it up.

@@seancagney8897 not that part. PAC was as equal in acting and rapping... PAC was a poet rapping something we never seen before him... Nas was heavily influenced by that we all see it... I'm saying he didn't say Pac was just talking shit on records he named off everyone else because he knows better than to say that... Now PAC did pop his shit on records because that was a part of hip-hop but Pac went over and beyond that... We all know this...

So the streets not reflecting f the mumbling rap these young niggas listening to today? Last month young niggas stole a car from store to floss then get shot up by cops. Young niggas out here pulling up on robbing attacking and killing old people or regular people cuz they feinding for the attention and money so they can feel like these rap niggas and pop a Molly and fuck with a female only till the lil money they stole run about cuz they ain’t got no real skills or critical thinking skills. They wanna rap. Pushing this evil ass culture so far it’s ok for a group of young niggas to pull up amd just shoot up everything and kill innocent people in the process why? Cuz tellin the cops what you saw is snitching. Niggas! I guess Black panther protocol snitching to because they believed in police themselves and doing right by the community and regulating the unruly folk. Snitching to them too??? Well I tell ya what? I stand opposite of you if you stand with evil amd destruction. You have ya cartoon character ass rap niggas ya praise and wannabe like. 😂 Rick Ross.. niggas talk like he the fucking Godfather Don Corleone and shit. Like just because he rap and got money a nigga should respect him. FOH! Nigga seen to many fucking movies. Outlandish? 😂😂😂 you want to be a rapper to huh? A culture that basically is a living embodiment of crab in a barrel. Don’t care about nobody but self amd will do anything to be atop the next person. Fuck community. Fuck unity. Fuck a nation. Black folk the only race that live under everyone else’s flag but they own. Truthfully niggas to fucked up to even be there right now. We go have to war with each other first and get rid of the evil niggas first. Then we can all be in peace and be neighbors and raise our kids and respect and love ourselves cuz the evil niggas ain’t gon let us.

Listen carefully to the end of what he said. You have to listen to it in it's proper context. Those of you who benefited from the music were able to listen to it in context. Some listeners don't know how to do that.

Young black people right now are smarter and preparing for collage at twice the rate (per capita) than you 70’s babies….for your generation and mine (80s babies)…we are sitting at historic lows for black people living in poverty…even though things are still bad in pockets of america, slightly less than 1 in 5 black people live in poverty…we are still on track for our children to be much more successful than us and our parents…i’m 41 and am amazed by young people…i’m amazed by my children (14 and 11)and their friends…and I purposely steered my children in the direction of Music, not hip-hop…Music. That’s me, that’s my doing…that’s me being a parent…and i was right there with you trying to sell dope as an early teen listening to BIG.
