When you wash them, they are much more prone to molding or just going bad in general, so i wouldn't recommend washing them all at once long before you consume them.

That’s why she added white vinegar thou? I find that makes the biggest difference when keeping soft fruit fresh for as long as possible.

@@omniummysterio as someone who gardens and grows their own vegetables, no! At least not that i’ve noticed. I like to let my cabbages sit in water and white vinegar for around 10 minutes before i cook them because it kills all the bugs and dirt that regular water wouldnt be able to get rid of :) just be sure to dilute the vinegar enough and you shouldn’t taste it

Your sink is pretty cool. I bought, what I think are some of the best grapes I've ever had. I soaked them to clean them. The process was fine but not nearly as cool as how you prepped those blueberries.

I've started drinking herbal tea.to help with some health issues, and I add a quarter cup of blueberries to my cup before I add the hot water... it adds more antioxidants, AND a lovely subtle sweetness!

Don’t wash your berries until you’re ready to use them. They will mold faster that way. My stepfather used to have a you pick strawberry farm. So I learned this from him.

I was thinking this too. Learned my lesson from making the mistake with strawberries. It seems this person froze the berries so maybe washing them was okay. Fruit lasts longer frozen though I’m not personally in the habit of buying fresh and freezing.

Unless the fruit is in-season, it's actually healthier to eat frozen fruit. Fresh fruit is picked before it is ripe so it can survive the trip to grocery stores while frozen fruit is picked at peak ripeness and frozen immediately.

I totally agree about washing them before you eat them. You can wash them to freeze them but not if you want them to last in the fridge. The berries were big and beautiful. They are really good to prevent and clear up brain fog.

Out of desperation not to waste them AGAIN, I tossed a container of them in the freezer. . .no washing or anything. I used them handful by handful in baking for MONTHS. DID wash them at that point. If you're adding them in a box mix, toss them first in a bit of the dry mix before adding to the batter (by gently folding them in last minute) to keep them from sinking to the bottom of the loaf pan or whatever.

Good idea I need to but some silicone bags for the freezer takes up less room. I like to buy in bulk too, clean with white vinegar to get the dirt off. They literally taste the same fresh to make smoothie with.

The way you put the fruits in the container, exactly what I do to not contaminate my fruits and this is very satisfying to watch someone else doing it. It makes me crazy when I see people with their dirty hands pick a fruit and eat it straight up from a store.

A spoonful of peanut butter and spoonful of PLAIN yogurt (not vanilla-flavored) is sooooo good in fruit smoothies. Takes them over-the-top. This one looks yummy, too.
