I'm so glad your community exists. I had such a happy childhood and loved my partner and in my late '60s after he passed am stuck in a senior's building wondering how the hell do I get out of here???? It's an on-going project and you guys are an inspiration.

You should do Ethiopian dishes for your supper club and then share the recipes with us on KZitem! That would be amazing 👏

We couldn't get any more complicated than that. We make an effort to keep friends of all ages and what we learn from some of our more vintage friends is simple living and good human connection is a recipe for a long happy life.

It really is amazing how many different ways there are that people manage to come up with to eat their porridge, or what we call oatmeal here You reminded me of when I was a little girl and my grandfather was the one that got up at the ungodly crack of dawn where he would head straight to the basement to pour real coffee beans into a hand grinded, enamel and glass coffee grinder that was bolted to the wall at the foot of the stairs for some reason. So after he ground the fresh coffee beans and put on the coffee (no electric coffee maker for my grandpa, this was the stove top variety, where you could see the coffee percolating up into the little glass knob! ), he got out a huge, stovetop double boiler, added water and the REAL Quaker Oats! Both would take about 45 minutes and I can tell you there was nothing like waking up to the commingling smells of fresh coffee and real porridge, as you say, humming along on top of that old stove. The most wonderful thing was that the next day it would be Wheatena bubbling in the double boiler, then it would be farina/cream of wheat, after that, it would be cream of rice and then then the final variety was something he called "cornmeal mush', 'lol,, which was rather like eating a hot buttery corn muffin in a moister form. Really nice childhood memories of delicious fresh brekkie food that smelled amazing. Gosh I miss that... Anyway, thank you for letting me share, Steve/Dave, and bringing back that memory. 💙

Did the council provide the sauna?
@thehappypear
Жыл бұрын
No it's a local company Fad Saoil Saunas, it's quite hard to get something like that on council land so it's in a private carpark that just happens to be right at the beach. If you're thinking of looking into something like that where you live I think that's probably the easiest route.
