I just tried on some outfit combinations, played dress up to come up with what to wear for work next week. I took photos of each look and counted there were twenty pictures - 20 different outfits I had not worn before! Some were inspired by outfits I have admired on instagram or pinterest. This really made me realise how much we already have. Twenty outfits just for spring, for work, is much more than I actually can wear before summer holidays as I don`t go to the office every day anyway.

low buy is going to be more long term for me than challenging myself to a complete no buy. After a few months of low buy I discovered that I absolutely don't need that many clothes but I really appreciate a few good quality ones much more now! I am very often wearing again and again my "best" clothes and discard the "cheap" ones.

Started year with a no buy approach, but you never know what life will throw at you! Weekly hospital visits required short sleeve tops which, apart from old tees I did not have, so have purchased a few short sleeve blouses. Think I also needed to pamper myself.( diagnosed with rare blood cancer)

I wish you lots of health. pampering yourself is alright after getting such a diagnose. Remember that not everyone can be a minimalist - we all have different needs and lifestyles. I do think that we can all be more mindful of how we dispose of the items we no longer need or use. This IS something wee can all do, regardless of being minimalists, hoarders, collectors of certain things, etc.

A lot of my shopping habits, I realize, either come from me being influenced by someone or from this scarcity mindset... My wardrobe these days is something I really try to budget for so that I'm not overdoing it, plus I'm also realizing that most of the trends I've bought in previous years just feel like a version of someone else that's been idealized if that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your insights on this, Signe! It's very inspiring for me as someone who struggles sometimes with buying too much or owning too much ❤️

In 2019 i did a no-buy challenge. I didn't allow myself to buy anything that was wearable or brand new (except earrings, lol). It was SO liberating in a way. I did buy a pair of sport shoes though for the gym as brand new. Well, then the challenge continnued, lol as 2020 rolled out -we all know why, but i wanted to go IN A CLOTHES STORE so baaad! and not only me. When the stores finally opened again after 2 months, it was SO weird to be inside a store... i don't think i bought anything, but man THAT was an experience... [that i don't care to repeat, lmao]. Now, i got used to not buying much stuff. Everything new in my closet was given to me or found next to dumpsters. I'm shameless. better in my closet than at the trash, right? right?

I did a no-buy last year and one of the things that stuck with me the most is taking care of and loving the things I already own. I also try to think about cost per wear and proof of concept items when I buy new things now. In general I am much more mindfull and buy very little compared to before I did the challange… 😊

I've tried to set a limit for my buying this year and I've found some months I've bought 1 item but some I've bought lots more. But it has also highlighted that when I was buying lots of new things I wasn't any more excited about my wardrobe. I've really been enjoying wearing the things I own a lot more, and I even went through my under bed storage the past couple of days and managed to part with lots of things that haven't fit/been worn for a few years! I'm a long way from being a minimalist but I'm definitely much more mindful and enjoying finding my style and the functionality I want from my clothes (comfy!).

I hv 3 pairs of dressy shoes I only wore for less than 10 times in 3 or 4 years. I decided to sell all of them in fraction of price & bought a new pair of slim, dressy ankle boots with the money. Wear the boots almost every sunday to church since February. I also have a floral dress I didn't wear much cz I don't like the short sleeves. During this challenge, I found that the dress is so great paired with button up shirt & sweatshirt on top. Thank for initiating this callenge, Signe!

Whenever I have browsed online I found myself gravitating to things I practically already had. Olive linen pants with an elastic waist? Already have khaki linen pants with a drawstring hanging in my closet. Solid/plain tshirt? I have five. I had a bad habit of buying the same thing over and over. Now my focus is on flawless fit. If it doesn’t meet 100% it has got to go. Since I was a duplicate buyer, no real need to replace anything yet.

Your gifted items during the no buy have been helpful for those learning how to shop for quality basics with minimalism in mind. I was able to get the boxy organic tees at 40 percent discount. I love them and they will last years. Items like these make you feel special and comfortable. Thank you for modeling your clothing items and stating sizes. Visual examples are so much better than verbal reviews. You are doing so much to benefit the environment with your you tube channel. You are cutting cost on shipping, returns and keeping excess clothing out of land fills. Thank you so much. Susan

I just saw a fast-fashion haul where the creator said about an item: I don’t like the fabric or color, it’s too tight and short, but oh, well, I’ll keep it anyway (!). This is why we have so many unwanted clothes, we compromise on items that aren’t right (me included). Your approach is a pole away from that attitude and so much better!

I am almost done shopping 🛍 or I should say I have done the base part of shopping for SPRING/SUMMER. You have helped me so much and I really appreciate your approach to shopping. I feel much more confident with my purchases and I feel I’m really enjoying my clothes now, not just looking at pretty things hanging in the closet that I can’t wear. 👚🧥I actually have a pretty short list for FALL/WINTER as I live in Hades 🏜🥵 and it’s pretty hot most of the year so my clothes can translate fairly well. I love the pretty black sandals you wore in this video they look very versatile (great choice). Thanks again and I think you’re doing a great job, I happen to love your style 💃🏻

I did a real no buy many years ago to save money so I could visit my brother that had moved to the other side of the earth. What I found was that it just meant that I had a list of things that I just had to buy the next year, like underwear, and sportswear plus lots of shoes and clothes to mend and replace. I have always had a small warderobe with high quality clothes and wear most things till they are no more and to replace and buy a little every year I find smarter than force something. On the other hand when you see and hear people that use fast fashion and just buy and buy I feel like forcing them to think, stop what they are doing and use their energy more creativ, like you, in a slow fashion way.

my no buy is more a low buy too. I found a pair of loafers that have been on my wish list for about three to four years. I have been able to sell quite a few items too. My work capsules are working very well with skirts and dresses that I have curated secondhand (when I find a style I like I look for color options in the same item). I have lost a little weight doing IF so everything looks and hangs better, so I feel more confident! Your hair looks great by the way!

I also did a no buy challange for 4 month last year. I wanted to continue with a low buy challange or even a no buy challange also this year, but I really find it very hard at the moment. I have a great wardrobe with a lot of things I really love, I definitely don't "need" anything any more (who of us really "need" somthing any more.... we definitely all have more than enough!). BUT anyway there are so many really nice things around, that always again make me struggeling to shop them... I definitely don't buy from any fast fashion brands, nor do I make any spontaneous shopping, but there are so great substainable littel brands with so cude things that make really fun to wear... so it's really hard for me to resist. And spoken honestly I bought quite a lot of things the last time, really great things.... but anyway too much!

I want to do a no/low buy as well.. But what I have found is that i struggle with it mainly because of my weight change. I have been gaining weight since the pandemic started and so after that.. Jean styles change so often! Low rise to high rise, flair to skinny, fringe to no fringe, etc, etc. I'm saving my old jeans to hand down to my nieces (now ten). By the time they fit into them, they will be back in style again!! How exactly do you alter your jeans?
@n.b.3521
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this can be a challenge! Personally, I keep a selection of all types of jeans. I'm currently wearing on rotation 3 pairs that I first acquired between 1988-1996. My skinnies have been pushed to the back of my closet and my low rise are somewhere in the middle (I'm not quite ready to go back to them, but if they trend long enough I'll be persuaded).
